First of all, let me thank Bungie for yet again making a masterpiece. I'm completely and utterly obsessed with a beta ment to test your game! I can't wait for the full release! I've been doing some PvE and some PvP for only a few hours and I immediately noticed that the assault rifle is clearly the best gun in PvP. I can see where the problems lie, as the assault rifle seems fairly balanced in PvE, as the range of encounters vary greatly--especially outside. However, in the Crucible, it just dominates. I've played the Venus map and the Moon map and I tried the Scout Rifle, Assault Rifle, and the Hand Cannon. The assault rifle just trounced everyone as compared to the scout rifle on the Venus map, as most encounters take place within the range of the assault rifle. On the moon map, the scout rifle has such an incredible range and can take many people down from across the map, however, it works terribly inside and ultimately the assault rifle is still a superior and more versatile choice. Encounters on the Moon seem to vary more than the Venus map, but they still tend to be well within range of the assault rifle. tl;dr The assault rifle feels balanced in PvE, but the range and damage with the ability of not having to aim down the sights seem overpowered for PvP.
