Please note that everything I talk about here is from prior experience and knowledge. There are some things I could be incorrect on. So feel free to correct me and link an official source on said information.
Now lets get into it.
Some things that have been going around are the level cap, size of the game, and low resource gathering( I.E. glimmer and crucible marks).
First lets talk about resources. I have seen many complain at how hard it is to farm due to how low you get them. Turn to RPGs more notably MMOs. In them gold and PvP points(marks, honor, etc) are scaled.
For those that don't know that means the amount you get is dependent on your level. Meaning the higher your level the more you get. That is why at the moment in the beta we can't earn a whole lot.
Next I'll talk about the level cap and the games size. This is a subject of hot debate as we truly can not know the size nor the cap of the game as of yet.
Now from what we know the beta is only a very small portion of the game. But as we have seen from vendor items and legendary items obtained from the iron banner these items do not exceed 20. But that makes little sense. Why? Look at some of the items vendors sell. The gunsmith as well as the engram decrypter(excuse me if I'm a bit off on this), they have only low level items for sale.
Lets also look at the Shipwright she may not have much to sell, but(forgive me if I'm wrong) she sell ships and sparrows at a price that would be laughable at higher levels.
You may be wondering where I am going with this. Yes, it has much to do with the level cap. I say that what we have been show may only be what Bungie wants us to see.
Why? Well look at the size of the beta, of which Bungie stated that it's only 10% of the game. Again 10% , if 20 were really the level cap, then we would reach it regardless of leveling speed before even reaching the halfway point of the games story.
Edit: Afterwards I learned that 20 is the cap so to speak. through a stat called Light you can gain "levels" past the cap. But you still earn experience after the cap. after earning a levels worth of experience you gain motes of light that can be used to purchase gear.
Plus level 15 being the unlock point for the second subclass. 5 levels wouldn't be enough to even max and master it. Each skill unlocks when a level is "gained". Currently the unlocks slow to the point of no longer unlocking, due to high experience requirements.
So with my final thoughts. The resource gain will get better with the full game, and the level cap is higher than we have been lead to believe.
I hope this thread removes doubts and confusion. Feel free to discuss this further and try to stay open minded.
