For the most part it works a lot like lift, but with much more lateral movement at times.whatever direction you are going when you activate glide will send you drifting in that direction until gravity kicks in. If I were you, go into explore mode and mess around with it, see how it works, how you can implement it into combat and also note that you can use lift an unlimited amount of times. It will save you from fall damage.
