Final thoughts on the beta

I work all day tomorrow so I thought I'd post my thoughts and feedback while its fresh in my mind. Overall the beta was great. It had more polish than almost any EA game I've played and most Bethesda games I frequent. I ran into one "glitch" during the game that affected play in no way. A dreg I blasted floated into the sky until disappearing - I can live with that any day. Towards the end there were server issues (disconnects and errors joining) but I was aware of Bungie stress testing their servers. All in all the beta ran well and better than I thought it would. I really indulged in the PvE aspect of Destiny. I'm tired of PvP and wanted as fresh of a experience as possible. Enemies were smarter than I imagined - flanking and grouping up on me to death more than one time. I appreciated that. There was enough weapon variety (classes) to keep things fun. Tried to max out one of each uncommon weapon. Scout rifles, fusion rifles and rocket launchers were the most reliable for me. Hand cannons, shot guns and machine guns were just badass and fun to play with. I will say that the missions were very short - 10 minutes max? Sounds correct. With the limited terrain available exploration got old after an hour or so. Can only crash enemy spawns for so long but its a beta! Not the whole game I get that. I think Bungie should add way points to the exploration mode too. Public events are a ton of fun and easy to enjoy. Was cool to see everyone in the area team up for awhile and kill shit- what's better? I wish people were more responsive to fire team invites though. Felt like a lot of people were in a sort of COD mindset and pissed when you "stole a kill" and helped out. I didn't play the crucible or Iron Banner enough to properly comment on it. I'll let those who put in the time give their thoughts. There was too much hype for the beta. I think people, especially here on the forums, expected too much. Remember people freaking out about not being able to pick their console or asking for their codes repeatedly? Bungie without a doubt over hyped the "exclusive bonus" for playing on the 26th. They should have gone on and on about the moon mission opening up more than the bonus nameplate we'll receive in September. More content is always better than flashy shit. That being said its disappointing to see people saying "that's it??" in regards to the nameplate - what did you really expect? Bungie to send you a coupon for a free blowjob? It was cool enough to have them ask us to test the game early. They don't owe us anything. It was all a bonus. I enjoyed myself with the beta. I hope you all did. The worst part is that its over now. The best part is the wait for launch day is almost over.
