The Traveler is supposed to be a protector. Yet what does it do? Hover. It hovers and lets the Guardians do all the heavy lifting. Humanity is not safe on Earth. Humanity is not safe in the Last City. The only hope for humanity is to leave.
That's right. We need to leave. Let the Darkness take over, and flee from this ridiculous notion that we must hold our 'last foothold.' It's foolish. All we have to do is find another mountain entirely and we won't need this foothold to climb it at all. We need to be honest with ourselves. The Traveler is weak. It isn't evil, it just isn't powerful enough to do its job. That means we can no longer depend on it. We are counting each day our walls stand against the forces of the Darkness, grateful to be alive let alone to prosper.
If you need proof of our desperation, just look outside. See the crumbling Traveler. See the crumbling walls. See the ships scrounged from the past, unable to reach even the nearest planets without warp drives. We are lost unless we muster our forces and find a new home. A new life. A new future.
Dead Orbit is the Best Orbit, and make no mistake- Earth is most certainly dead and orbiting.

In a sense, I agree. I think that if there are thousands of Darkness enemies, then how can we rely on one Traveler. I'm guessing that each Darkness thing has the power of the Traveler, and if the Traveler can use the last of its power to repel them for awhile, then thousands of the Darkness could easily wipe us out. There was most likely a war between the Darkness and the Traveler's and the Darkness won leaving one Traveler to escape, it came here knowing that they would come and try to destroy the entire human civilization. The Traveler is not as good as we think.
However, it does look cool hanging above the city.
