Same outcome. Gloating is essentially unsportsmanlike conduct - they have penalties for that in professional sports.

What's a touchdown celebration? Players aren't penalized for touchdown celebrations. Or in soccer almost every goal is followed by a celebration. Same with hockey,basketball, what the hell even bowling. You might want to validate your argument before making one.

You might want to validate your argument before making one.[/quote] Celebrations are not the same as unsportsmanlike conduct - you should look it up. unsportsmanlike conduct is a foul or offense in many sports that violates the sport's generally accepted rules of sportsmanship and/or participant conduct. Examples include verbal abuse or taunting of an opponent, an excessive celebration following a scoring play, or feigning injury. The official rules of many sports include a catch-all provision whereby participants or an entire team may be penalized or otherwise sanctioned for unsportsmanlike conduct. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I think teabagging or dancing over the body of the player you just killed, could be seen as taunting behavior... my argument is valid as a mother-blam!-er.

Edited by H0RSE: 8/6/2014 7:35:37 AMIt wasn't just dancing, it was dancing over a corpse....the corpse of the player the dancing player just killed... it would be like scoring a touchdown, and then doing a celebratory dance in the face of the opponent that was covering you - you would be penalized for that...you have no argument here - it's either taunting or excessive celebration, either one is considered unsportsmanlike conduct, by the definition of the term. But even if you were to completely disregard the whole unsportsmanlike conduct thing, I still see those actions as childish and disrespectful, which still gets you on my avoid player list.

You think what we teabag is a corpse? It is not a corpse. If that is a corpse then you need to stop killing thousands of people/aliens. It is a game, treat it as such. Also, what lacks in the real sports that lacks here. I'll give you a hint, verbal communication. Yes, you can generally talk with your team, but usually cannot hear your opponents. NFL players taunt, tease, bash the other team to get on there nerves, to get them riled up. We can't do that, so we switch it to non-verbal communication. If tea-bagging was so disrespectful, why was it intentionally put in Halo 4? I mean, developers are disagreeing with you. Is it disrespectful to dance over a Fallen Captain's corpse? Why is it considered 'excessive celebration" in one circumstance, if not the other. In fact, I would consider it excessive celebration when doing it to the Captain, because he is easier to take down, there fore less effort went into equally celebrating.

Many have this misconstrued concept that competition is somehow exempt from this - that what would normally be deemed inappropriate, doesn't apply to competitive gaming, and because of this, many have just accepted this idea as fact. The point in me mentioning pro sports, was to show that if this kind of behavior results in being penalized in a professional competition, then it is obviously not looked at as simply "just having some fun." I grew up playing online MP back in the days when Quake and UT reigned supreme. My games of choice were RTCW and W:ET, and I played competitively. It was a time where people said "gg" after a round and actually meant it. Where compliments were given for good performance, rather than shit talking and excuses, and teabagging was virtually nonexistent, and when it did occur, it was looked down upon, not embraced like it is now. I play with a code of honor. I don't gloat, I don't shit talk, I don't teabag, I don't rage quit, and I don't send messages to players filled with curse words and insults. I don't even use knives in FPS games unless it is my last resort, because I see using knives in shooters as dishonorable. "Never bring a knife to a gunfight." You wanna kill me, do it with a gun. I keep to myself and I play the game. I acknowledge good players with a "gg" in their mailbox, and sometimes even invite them to my friendslist.

What he's trying to say is his code of ethics is vastly different from the average gamer (especially nowadays). Besides, he's not even reporting anyone, just avoiding the ones that (to him) lessen his experience of gaming. Do many people see this as a dull and boring way of life? Would you want to almost kill and t-bag yourself in the agony of such a monotonous gameplay where where humour does not exist? Well yes, but dammit, he still has the right to play however he wants. In all seriousness though everyone really does have the right to try and create the experience they want while gaming, and if in the process it hurts no one else, why should anyone care? But hey, this is the internet, where everyone cares about completely useless things...

Perhaps my personality isn't so dull, that I need things like teabagging to have a good laugh or extrude any sort of enjoyment from gaming.

Actually I just forget that sarcasm doesn't always come off properly when written. I was trying to make a statement that by your overly serious replies that is how the majority of others who are somehow entertained by every dick/fart joke perceive you. I thought the rest of my message made it obvious I didn't actually feel that way, but its cool. I still think my main point got across and I hope you, and honestly the majority of people that play destiny (that aren't trying to just ruin the experience for others) enjoy this new world in whatever way they see fit for themselves. After all, life is about the journey, not the destination.

My opinion before this was obviously contradictory. And then following up the part you quoted, I start a new paragraph with, "In all seriousness though..." So I just thought it was obvious, but I suppose you are right, it could have been taken either way without further clarification. Anyway, perhaps I'll see you in Destiny, and though it is possible you may see me t-bagging, it won't be you, because the ones I do it to, are the ones that already did it to me, in mutual retribution. That or a particular npc that's really pissed me off, haha, though usually I do prefer the 'victory dance' nowadays, which I usually do break out the moves with my fellow guardians after we finish a tough strike.

I'm trolling you bro. You shouldn't feel the need to prove anything to a stranger online. I understand the need for order in the competitive market but let's be honest, do you really expect 10 to 14-year-old kids to not get on multiplayer and not trash talk or teabag? My generation did it with Halo 2 and maybe Halo 3 as well as Call of Duty 4. It happens but most people grow out of it.
