Starting out playing the guitar, possibly around the £300 mark and LEFT-handed... Any suggestions? Acoustic, electric I'm not bothered I like them both equally. Thanks

Edited by MalvOfAlaska: 8/9/2014 8:49:40 AMGet something cheap enough that it's still a starter, but do not get those cheaply squire packs from guitar center. I find that in order for me to learn effectively, I need to be inspired. I'm inspired by the sound coming from my instrument. Inspiration will help you more than any regimented routine ever will. My personal recommendation? Get an Ibanez Gio. They range from about 200-400, and are fucking great for what you pay for them. If you want, I can help you pick out some starting equipment as well. Hit me up!

That could buy you a Stratocaster. Go with that (I own two).

Edited by IGhost: 8/9/2014 1:13:21 PMA squire, an ibanez RG(fixed bridge), an epiphone. Go to the store try some guitars out. Get a guitar that you feel comfortable playing with. Check for reviews and videos. Also make sure you like the sound. It can be cheap but a cheap guitar can sound good too. Well you could buy a right handed squire or a fender, turn it upside down and go all Jimi hendrix on it.

Found you a link to a great looking instrument

Edited by BlazinKnight317: 8/9/2014 8:39:00 AMGet a Fender. Any lower end fender will do like around the 100-200 price range are good starter ones. My first one was a Squire Strat and I loved that one. Eventually when you are looking to upgrade I would look at a Les Paul. I have one made by Epiphone for only $500 and it plays like a $2000 model. *Edit* Any acoustic guitars are a good starter model because you'll end up building calluses and you'll get used to the harder string so that if you do switch over to electric it'll be that much easier

Get a Telecaster. Don't buy a shitty ass guitar, you'll regret it.

I started with a classic Gibson 6 string worked fine for me

Also any right handed guitar will work just string it upside down like Jimi Hendrix
-
Acoustics are the way to go if you want to play like a real man.

I started out with a basic ibanez.

Find an old used Gibson or an old framus

There's nothing wrong with those Squier starter packs for a first guitar. They aren't the best, but it's a good bang for your buck.
