Forgive my ignorance, but I just came across this and don't know what to make of it just yet. I could see gamers using it in Destiny Crucible.
What do you guys think? Would you buy the Hipshotdot? Apparently they sell is at Gamestop.

Nope its not cheating and why would you even care? You would NEVER know if someone was using this or not. Just like ppl using different "pro controllers", sure it helps them play a bit better but you would never know they are using it....its not like they're modding the game or anything.

Edited by SaferMurderweapon: 8/9/2014 2:00:16 AMIt's not really cheating. I can visualize a reticule without this thing. This could also be detrimental depending on your display. If you view your screen from the wrong angle, you will start to see a parallax effect. Basically it would appear to move around depending on which angle you see it from. If you really need something like this, just take a red sharpie or some marker with fluorescent ink and put it on your display. Use rubbing alcohol on a paper towel to remove afterward.

Probably helps some people, hey If they want to buy a tiny dot to attach to their screen, I support them. However I myself don't mind looking down the sights.

I like how he says this. "we think this simple innovation enables big advatages across every games and every gamer should have one in their arsenal" obviously every gamer having one would make the advantages moot in MP. And then you would essetially just be playing a broken game(not played how the dev intended).

people have been doing this for years. My dad told me about it when he showed me shooters. Theyre a crutch. Good for people who play casually, but if you actually want to develop skills then stay away from them. sure it gives people an advantage. but have you seen people in shooters? the bottom scoring halves of most teams could probably use these kinds of tricks

Oldest trick in the book. Not really a cheat per se. But beware, usage of the hip dot is a symptom of being a bitch made.
-
It's not cheating. But it is kind of being a jerk.

No, it's fine. Any half-decent game would be balanced knowing this sort of thing was possible (Destiny already is). The name is awful though.
-
Id hate to see the individual that would actually pay for this. Nothin wrong with want to be at the top of your game but come on. Thats sad

Edited by ViolentDreamZ: 8/9/2014 1:44:42 AMWhy go to all that trouble ? just use this monitor, it has built-in crosshairs and you can even pick the color: http://www.asus.com/microsite/2013/lcd/GamingMonitors/fast.htm

Scotch tape and a sharpie. I've seen friends do this for ages

Remove the link man, don't let people see this! Oh it's probably too late, there goes any shooter with pvp. Now I know how people were hitting me with an auto rifle, across the map, and from the hip. -_-
-
I made one with a screensaver plastic and a paint marker like 10 years ago. Helps with no scopes for sure. If you combine it with auto drop shot and akimbo rapid fire, it's cheating. I don't do it ....much

Yes. It's basically down site aiming from the hip.
