It reminded me of the RL from DOOM 3. Why replace the original rocket launcher that's been a staple of the series since CE? Most likely a new weapon. Maybe a missile pod type thing that can send a barrage of missiles once locked on. Hell, in Halo 3 we had the Spartan Laser, RL, and Missile Pod for anti-vehicular weapons.
