Will expansion passes such as are included with special editions be transferable between generations alongside the character?
To what extent are they able to modify the game post-launch based on their new engine and file structure.

No I would assume a moderate amount. Playlists can be updated by the flick of a switch (patches and iron banner type things) and content like Lord Saladin is fairly simple to patch in. It will likely not be drastic. Most of the world changes (like which faction wins) will take place in sequels, as oppose to post-game

Edited by ManBearPigIets: 8/20/2014 2:49:26 AMThey seemed a bit derisive about only pre-set options being changed like before, making it seem like they could do far more here, and mentioned that they wanted to be able to update campaign/world changes post launch because they had only been able to update pvp in previous titles. Why would they mention being able to update pve as much as pvp if you think they will only update pve in sequels? From what I hear the game tags are hugely different and aren't configured into pre set 'maps' per say, so it stands to reason they could heavily modify events and even how the game is structured without needing dlc or a huge update of any kind.

Its not just a pve updates in sequels. I was refering to an example for factions. The way they would change pve is through the use of different versions of areas ("rooms") that they can instantly switch between with next to no need for downloads because the game is always online. As for what they can do I gave the example of PvP pre-implimented things like Iron Banner, but there is more. They probably could not do heavy modifications that implement major changes, but with the "always online" setup of things they are able to change things (like the "rooms). You would have to download new things that are stored on hard drives, of course. Various podcasts and things talk about how they can add different textures (like snow), lighting (day/night), or other things. The possibilities will, in my predictions, allow them to make "holiday events" for things like the "embassitors" that appear once in a while. I'm do not have vast amounts of knowledge in this subject, so I may not be the person to ask.
