I feel you don't know the meaning of the word. A duel takes place between 2 people, what you are describing is a battle, which takes place between 2 or more groups of people.
Therefore, because of the improper use of the term "duel", I deem your argument invalid.

The two teams do not always group together in the same areas of the map at the same time. Many times, a 1v1 situation (a duel) arises for control of a general area or approach. Hence, duel.
