Deej, can you please clarify why the ps store is showing midnight PST? I want to make sure that if I preorder digital, I can play at midnight my time.

Man think we will have to just see what happens on the 9th. I chatted with PS support, they stated Bungie was talking about the physical copy being available for play at 12am local times. People ( like me) who have the digital version STILL have to wait until 12pst.

Ok all...I just got off the phone with PlayStation and they confirmed that if it is midnight in your time zone September 9th, you can play the digital version of Destiny. I also asked that they update the description in the store to reflect this...here's to hoping they listened!

Are you really serious or just trolling? Not only does it state PST as the time zone on multiple places in the PS store it shows 17 days and 4 hours for me which would be a couple hours past midnight.

Hah, seriously?!? Well that's cool. Again, I think that is just going to be for those who pre-ordered and could pre-load the game. The actual "Buy Me Now", non-preorder version of Destiny probably won't update until 12am PST.

Keep in mind that ps4 users will be able to install destiny on 9/7. If what DeeJ is saying in this comment thread is understood correctly, then we should be good-to-go midnight EST. Which, by the way, is NOT how he addresses this question in the update...

You would think so... But there isn't really clarity on the issue for the PS side now. It's been asked on their forums, multiple times now, but no official word that I've seen yet.

This is just speculation....but I believe that the 12am PST is intended for those who did not pre-order....which in turn means those who could not pre-load the game a couple of days early. Perhaps the standard, non-preordered version won't be available to even click to purchase until the PSN updates at 12am PST. That would make more sense to me, and make pre-ordering your anticipated games an even better idea.

sorry Deej, but 'whenever' is not clear. 'Whenever' could be 12:01am here in Australia, which is well before your midnight, or 12:01am PST, in which case I could have a disc spinning in my PS4 with no access to servers. Will i be playing at 12:01am GMT+10 on sept 9? Yes or No? If no, then I'll go to work on the 9th and wait for my Ghost edition to arrive then take my days off. If yes, then I'll also preorder the Digital Guardian Edition AND take the 9th 10th 11th & probably forever off. This is why i, and others, need to know for sure.

If Bungie servers operate like my work servers, they are alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll locallized. Around the globe. Screw your time zones. Screw your updates and everything else. In bungalow hills, Australia or no-mans-land, iceland. On 9/9, at 00:00 midnight. You can go into Destiny. If it is setup around the local time zones which... last I checked... most servers are setup that way for information transport security purposes... you will have access then. If they are not, well... give it a few minutes and retry because the only server setups I've ever seen which utilized settings otherwise was a honey pot server trying to catch some guys jacking into the system. Just wait till the download date arrives, download the game, load it up on 9/9 whenever after midnight.

I will donate $20 to the charity of your choosing if you would clarify that answer. What time do the Destiny servers go online for public access? I live in the Central Time Zone. If I have my disc in my PS4 and the game installed at midnight 9/9 Central time, will I be able to access the Destiny servers and play?

Servers do not give a rats flying -blam!- about time zone differences in terms of where the hardware is at versus you. On 9/9, at midnight 00:00, you should have access. Forget the CST, GMT, PST, ect. and if by some miracle of a chance you do not? Give it a few minutes, try again, and if not THEN, then the servers wee setup for a simultaneous launch time which is 12 PST.

There is one way. "As soon as it's midnight in your local timezone, and you have a disc version or a pre-loaded digital version, you can start playing Destiny immediately." "To clarify even more: This will mean that YES, East Coast players will be playing Destiny 3 hours sooner than West Coast players, etc etc...." That would seem a heck of a lot clearer to everyone...

I could be wrong, but I took his statement as maybe their servers will be up early. Like maybe sometime the preceding day, Aug 8th or something. I could be wrong though.
