because people statistically go out more in the summer and are not home to be playing video games, therefore games are not sold as much during the summer, the fall is when people are more likely to start staying indoors allowing for more indoor activities such as video games which makes releasing games in the fall more likely to gross more sales and this trend continues on into winter.
