So does that mean Destiny will launch at 12pm PST? I guess that'll give me plenty of time for install after I buy it. At least I'm in the center of the country. I feel for all you on east coast who have to wait an hour longer then me.

I've been working on this since yesterday. Deej replied to my earlier message that if it is midnight in your time zone, you can play Destiny. The issue is the digital version. PS claims 12 PST in their store, but I called to confirm and the respondent confirmed that "if it is midnight your time, you can play the digital". However, the person was initially confused and needed help from a manager before answering, so I'm not fully confident in his response. I hope Bungle can clear things up with Sony so they either confirm 12 PST or change the description on the store.

Sony help is not much help. I've talked with them a few times about many issues and they follow scripts but many DO NOT play games and are clueless about hardcore gamer questions. Disappointing.

So people in New Zealand will be playing 17 hours before people in PST will. Unless of course you have a pre-loaded digital download :D Looks like I'll be playing at mid-day on the 8th

That's my point. There is one server for the world to play. You think there are servers for each different time zone? No there's not. So when I predownload on the 7th then I will be able to play on the 8th....Nope. SERVERS WILL BE ON AT MIDNIGHT PST ON THE 9th.

Is it September 9th somewhere in the world? Check Do I have access to a copy of Destiny? Check Therefore I can log in and create a character, something you can only do when the servers are turned on. If what you were saying is true, then he would've left out the part about 'somewhere in the world'. Nowhere did he even mention PST

I hope your right. But I think you missing the last part which is the most important. "Retailers will break street date. Our servers won't". That tells me that even if you have the game you can't play till servers are on. And "somewhere" can be meant as anywhere. Or somewhere specific. (Like Seattle)?

I was confused at first too, but if you think about it, it makes no sense for Deej to say 'somewhere' to mean a specific unknown location, and to say 'break' meaning that they're expecting retailers to ignore the instructions of midnight release. That would be ridiculous, and massively unhelpful to the person who put the question in the mailsack.

I actually interpreted that part of the post to mean that the servers will be running in your respective time zone the moment its legal for a retailer to sell you the game. Basically, 12am in your time zone the servers will be up. Just how i read it...

Retailers will release it at 1200am in your respective time zones. But NZ kicks off the launch because they're 17hrs ahead. So get a copy of the game 17hrs early.. 0700 on the 8 th... And you can play no matter where you are lol

Actually I think you're right, he said "the servers won't know the difference between the [i]timezones[/i] but [i]surely[/i] that isn't what you say right? What's the point in that? That means people who get the game 17 hours ahead (by any means) can play immediately. But he then says the servers won't be fooled by any release before the 9th. SO, the way I think it works is [i]if you have the game, as soon as it hits 12:00am/midnight where you are, you get to play.[/i] Meaning that NZ technically has a 17 hour head start... No, what he was saying is that the servers don't differentiate between timezones. Retailers will break (start selling copies) street date (on midnight 9/9 locally), but the servers wont (because as soon as it's september 9th anywhere in the world (new zealand), the servers will be turned on)

I'm not sure why people don't understand this. The servers are REQUIRED to play this game in any fashion. It doesn't matter if you have the game. The servers will not be on until 12am pst. He says the servers won't be fooled by retailers who sell the game early

It's midnight wherever you are in the world. I live on the east coast, and can pick mine up at midnight here, someone in Cali will have to wait until midnight there, and so on and so forth.

He said that retailers were going to sell it at midnight. But I thought he said / meant Bungie servers wouldn't be effected by the time change. Maybe I'm wrong it was just worded in the normal, semi cryptic, Deej way. Hopefully I'm wrong and it goes live at midnight every where. But technically it won't be Sept 9th in Seattle, where Bungie servers are controlled, until 2am CST, my time. Hopefully it gets clarified.

You are right that's how I read it. He basically is saying that the servers won't be fooled if you try to play early. Meaning you can't play till there on. And they won't be on until we flip the switch. (Midnight pst).
