Too bad you won't be able to do anything with that disc until they switch on the servers at midnight PST. Sorry to break it to ya.

Edited by AkiCar9599: 8/23/2014 8:28:18 AM"When it is September 9th somewhere in the world" is what deej said. It's regional time based not pst time based. So I will be able to play it at any time from the 9th on Australian time.
-
No, you took what he said out of context, he meant that the servers won't know the difference between your timezone and theirs. You can pickup the game before midnight PST, you can get it super early through retail leaks days before release, and pop the disc in. But until midnight PST when the servers trigger, the game is unplayable. So if you are in aus, then you will probably have to wait til the next day to play.
-
Yeah another guy told me that. Doesn’t matter, just means I get a full day to work on character customisation. Servers don't have to be online to make a character.
-
Its regional activation.

Read it carefully. He's very cryptic, but he states that the games will sell at midnight local time (that's obvious). Then, you will get to create your guardian and spend time together (notice how he didn't say play). You'll be able to make your guardian, but not play, since the servers, as he stated, don't know the difference between timezones. Therefore, you'll have to wait until 12 am on 9/9 PST to play.

looks like i was right the first time. started playing destiny the second i got it on the 9/9. servers were online here on the 8/9/14 at 10pm east coast of aussie time.
-
Excellent. Congrats. I picked up my copy last night and am going to play in a while
-
Previous guy said I wouldn't be able to do anything at all
-
You should still be able to make your character, as that's an offline process. You were able to do that even while the beta servers were bugging out
-
Yeah I read that, but for me making the characters is part of the fun, so it doesn't really matter. either way we'll find out on the 9th
-
It's both a blessing and a curse. You can't play early, but at least there's no rush to perfect your guardian, or perhaps plan out your next three characters.
-
Exactly, this way I can spend ages on character customisation so I don't rush it and have regrets later. Plus I'm patient and can always find something else to do in the meantime.
-
You didn't read the update.
-
But you did :)
