I find it so interesting how strong of friendships and communal bonds can be made from playing games with friends and strangers alike. I was wondering where everyone's origins came from in terms of gaming. For me, my first game was Altered Beast on the Sega Master system. My dad picked this up for me in the 80s when I was only 4. We kicked ass together and it was pretty graphic for a 4 year old to play. Punching and kicking zombies and beasts that exploded into pieces lol It was rereleased on the Sega Genesis (which I still own). It's still a lot of fun to play today too.
So what is everyone's story here?

For the poll I selected that I started gaming in the 90s, as that's as early as I can remember. It's possible that I was playing video games in the 80s, but I can say with absolute certainty that I started in the early 90s (elementary school and all that jazz). When my parents were still together they had an Atari and a basic PC that had some 2D space combat game on it that I used to play... I remember the levels being different colors. My grandparents always had the newest game console at their house, though, as after my parents divorced I was over there all the time. So through them I went NES through N64, before I was old enough to start buying my own consoles and games.

First system was...i inherited my parents Intellivision, which was put out by Mattel.. And actually was a pretty sweet system for its time and was meant to be Atari's competition... I was prolly 4 or 5

The first console I actually owned was the original Xbox, but I remember long splitscreen sessions of Twisted Metal and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater on PS2 before then at my friend's house. And let's not forget the long hours I put into Unreal Tournament back in the day.

Atari, ET. Yes I'm aware of the irony. Second game was Knight Rider, so not what you would call a stellar start to the world of gaming.

Nintendo 64 - Either Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Starfox 64, or Zelda Ocarina of Time.

It was either Kriby's Block Ball or Tetris for the original Game Boy. Can't remember which I played first.

The first game that I really played, as far as I can remember, was Midtown Madness 3 on the original Xbox.
