I find it so interesting how strong of friendships and communal bonds can be made from playing games with friends and strangers alike. I was wondering where everyone's origins came from in terms of gaming. For me, my first game was Altered Beast on the Sega Master system. My dad picked this up for me in the 80s when I was only 4. We kicked ass together and it was pretty graphic for a 4 year old to play. Punching and kicking zombies and beasts that exploded into pieces lol It was rereleased on the Sega Genesis (which I still own). It's still a lot of fun to play today too.
So what is everyone's story here?

The first game that I really played, as far as I can remember, was Midtown Madness 3 on the original Xbox.

Edited by dee: 8/26/2014 6:04:39 PMThis is what I started with. It's called a Magnavox Odyssey 2 (Philips Videopac G7000 in EU). This is the successor to the first gaming console ever made. It was released in the late 70's and I played it in the 80's before having a Sega Master System and NES. But I was very young so I can't remember all the games I played on it. One of 'em was Pick Axe Pete!

NES was my first console. I forget what my first game was though. It was either super mario world 3, ninja gaiden, or double dragon.

Well I've played on consoles before I got my first. My neighbor had an Nintendo, my brother and I would play Mortal Kombat. Then my buddy had a Sega Genesis, which blew my mind at the time. Anyways my first console was a Playstation and I think the first game we bough for that was Tomb Raider 2 I believe? And all those old school demo discs!!!

My first game system was the PS I loved playing my Spyro on that.

How about this one? Atari computers in high-school BASIC programming class. When the teacher was out? KARATEKA!
-
80's baby. My mother had an Atari with Frogger and Qbert on it. Once that broke we got an NES but all I had was Excite Bike, some monster truck game, Zelda, Ninja Turtles, Batman, Duck Hunt and all 3 Mario's. SNES is where I hit my stride as a gamer, I don't think there was a game out that I didn't own. I think the biggest transition in gaming evolution happened from the 80's to the 90's. Went from 2d side scrolling to full on 3d free roam. Amazing times. Now it's just standard and under appreciated.

Edited by post920: 8/26/2014 4:53:31 PMThe first game I ever remember playing was a flight simulator back in the late 80s. It didnt have any graphics really as it only had dials and readouts for elevation, pitch, etc. It was on a computer that only showed the colors orange and black. I was pretty young and didnt really get how to play though, so I would always crash. I must've spent a hundred hours trying to figure that game out.

Was born in 2000 (most mature 14 year old you'll ever meet) Started playing NES Mario till I was 3, then I played halo 2 a ton along with Dark Cloud
-
Born late 90's so I started gaming around 2002. I know for a fact that my first fps was Perfect Dark on the N64. I'm not sure what my first game ever was, but I'm thinking it was either Ocarina of Time on N64, or Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 for PC.
