Personally, I see the Hunter Gun Slinger as a support role. I know it doesn't make sense when you say it like that, but hear me out. Break down the sub classes into their base traits. Gunslinger / Striker / Void Walker Support / Attack / Attack Next look at their second sub class Blade Dancer / Defender / Sun Singer Attack / Support / Support So what makes Gun Slinger a Support? His gun! He is that extra gun you need for to cover your ass. Think of it like an MMO. You have Sword, Shield, and magic as both support, and Attack So, we say the Defender is shield, the Sun Singer is Magic.... The Gun Slinger is Sword... As he is the only Character with Weapon buffs, and the speed to get around the map quickly. He can be the one to save your ass, or be fast enough to resurrect you, and get out quickly. Same can be said on the attack side Hunter as a Blade Dancer = Sword Titan as Striker = Shield Warlock as a Void Walker = Still Magic This realization blows my mind btw

  • I'm calling BS! Blade Dancer is heavy on Speed. Warlock doesn't get much of any speed bonuses even with Blink. Blade Dancer can hit multiple enemies at once, rather than just one enemy with melee, and you can use the Blade Dancer's Super and upgrade it to hit enemies at range. The Sun Singer can be built as a attack role, but the only think you will really be doing is allowing yourself to throw more grenades and have a slight damage buff. I can't see why someone would want to do that unless they were running solo. If you are in a team, wouldn't you want your team to get Grenades faster, melee faster, AND super faster? I mean, you can't Super yourself into getting faster Supers. And, how do you know who's melee damage will be stronger?

  • Yea I saw the video as well, but all supers can one shot kill a pike. Except maybe Defender...? I don't know if it damages anyone close to the dome or not. I mean, the Gun Slinger could one shot kill a pike with a pistol... from a distance. It might just be my personal build, but I don't see the warlock Sun Singer as a Assault build. I would rather use it as a team support build to boosts everyone's super really fast. I think that will be far more useful in raids and PVP.

  • This makes sense for pve but in the crucible your theory is full of holes. In pvp, the gunslinger hunters are some of the most aggressive, irritating maniacs you can find. And I'm proud to say I'm one. In all seriousness, the high-power grenades offer the largest number of tactical options, and the throwing knife adds even more versatility.

  • High-Powered Grenades? The hunters Grenades are completely inferior to the other guardians Grenades. Also, in the Crucible a Titan would destroy a Hunter as far as irrational maniacs running around. Now, personally I love the Hunter. My favorite character. But, with that you have to be more tactful in order to get the most out of the Hunter. Use the quick speed and fast jumps to move around quickly. Then throw in some weapon bonuses to get that quick reload and better accuracy for the long range/tactical kills. Some one comes running on you, a few shots followed by a throwing knife to the face to end what ever revenge they had planed. And, if that wasn't enough, throw in a Golden gun to destroy anything foolish enough to cross your path. Even so, I can see a Hunter being a Tactical defender over an assault based character. Any fist of Havoc or Nova Bomb will end a Hunter long before he/she gets to a zone.

Are you insane?! The final grenade you get is basically an IED! I'm gonna have some fun. And you clearly haven't figured out how to use the other 2.

The swarm grenade is nothing compared to the pulse grenade or Vortex Grenade. Both do AOE and DOT. Both capable of killing multiple enemies. The Swarm Grenade is for area control I get, but the damage is minute and might kill a single person. The Incendiary grenade is nice and does DOT but the DOT is again weak and doesn't last that long. The area of explosion is nice and helps bring people out of hiding. But, any grenade can do that. The Trip Mine Grenade looks sweet, but it all depends on the damage out put. If it can't kill someone, then what is the point? And, we don't know how long it will last either. Is it indefinite? Can you set up multiple grenades in an area? Can't say it is epic if we don't know what it does. Now, if it is like an IED and kills anyone to close, then sweet. If not, I think I will stick to Incendiary Grenade. I am more excited about the Blade Dancer though.

  • They are TACTICAL grenades, they set up another action. The swarm grenade is powerful when combined with a shotgun, you can place the seekers in a doorway, wait for the seekers to fade, and blast the sorry fool who follows you in after they fade. Or flank them if that's more your style. The incendiary grenade weakens any enemies inside a zone enough for you to finish them with ease. And you saw the tripmines in the opening level, they packed some power. The grenades probably do the same thing. And since when is an aggressive player only one who gets in close with a lot of armor? I'm saying I move all over the battlefield, getting close and fading back in a quick fashion. Finally,a giant hole in your bladedancer plan: what if "invisibility" is the same as the Stealth Vandals where you could still see an outline and blue static?

  • That would be fine as far as being invisible. And, I don't look at the Blade Dancer for being invisible any way. I look at it for the Blink ability combined with the speed, plus arc grenade to chain lightning to enemies. As for the Grenade, I understand the weapon tactical combo. My point is that the Titan Flash Grenade or Pulse Grenade, and the Warlocks Vortex Grenade can be used in the same scenario as a swarm grenade but with more effect. The thing I like about Swarm Grenade is the tracer ability. If you throw it into a tight, dark room, the grenade will find the enemies so you know where they are camping. That makes it useful. Same with Incendiary Grenade. You can catch them on fire, and see where the damage numbers are coming from to see enemies around corners. My point however is that the other grenades are more powerful in general. Take 6 guardians and put them in a room together bunched up. Throw any Hunter GunSlinger Grenade and you wont kill a single one without shooting. Do the same thing with a Titan Pulse Grenade or a Warlocks Vortex Grenade and you kill all of them. I know no one bunches up like that. I get that. My point is the DPS capability of the other grenade types.

  • I looked at bladedancer to, but if the tripmine grenade is as powerful as I am guessing, it's no real contest.

  • I think you have more of a personal preference to the Gun Slinger rather than looking at the pors and cons of other guardians. Not that that is a bad thing. If you love Gun Slinger good on you. I feel the same way. But, I play with all guardians. Hunter is just my favorite :-) Had a 1.87 KDR with my Hunter... a 2.27 KDR with my Warlock... and a 1.75 KDR with my Titan... Miss them already.

  • We all miss our characters, and I seriously considered switching because of the super, but I didn't like the bladedancer grenades and don't think I could give up the throwing knife, even for blink.

  • I do love the throwing knife. The Titan might get a damage boost, but the Hunter is the only one who can get a critical hit with a melee plus he can do it at range. Those quick throwing knifes always catch people off guard lol... love. I think I will like the Arc Grenade quite a bit. Mainly for the Blink Combo. In my mind I see me blinking in, dropping the Arc Grenade to begin chaining lightning, blink strike to go invisible, blink to targets with shotgun, blink out. All based on speed. This is aside from supers of coarse. Also, I really like the idea of blink getting me out of the kill zone of Nova Bomb and Fist of Havoc. Once I see them go up I am totally "blinking" out of there lol.

  • I personally believe that sun singer is much more of an attack/dps class. Although some skills make it have support attributes it is much more based around damage, boosting your own cool downs, etc.

In some ways it abilities with Grenades and Some perks for the Super offer a DPS out look. But, in my opinion, running a DPS Sun Singer wouldn't make nearly as much sense as supplying your ENTIRE TEAM with supers, grenades, and melee recovery. And, if you were looking to attack, I think the void Walker would be far more powerful as far as Area control and DPS. The one hit melee kill on the Pike was kool, but I don't think anyone will want to be that close to a guardian who activates a super any way.
