Do you want Sparrow Races!? Well so do I. Every now and again in the feedback section someone starts a thread for Sparrow races, and Deej as well as other staff members have made it clear to us that Sparrow Races are something we would need to organize. I'm sure many of you had plans for setting up races on your own or trying to get a group together dedicated to racing etc. Hell I've been looking around youtube and a bunch of people have posted videos of their own attempts to do races for fun in the beta: laps on a crucible map, time trials on old russia, all the way to Point A to point B races. And they all look fun, and I'm sure there are a few I'm missing. When the game starts everyone interested in racing will probably get their racing groups going on the side, and well, I think that's cool and I'm all for that. But one thing I'd like to get going and I want everyone's thoughts on this, I'd like to get all the people interested in setting up their own racing groups across the various consoles and I think we should get organized. I'd like to set something up so we can organize races, keep track of standings, event wins, etc. I'd like to get a discussion going with anyone interested, either via skype or some other chat. Figure out how we can or should set this up if everyone is interested. I'd like to see everyone have their group and their style of races fall under a larger umbrella, like an Interstellar Racing League or something. With a big championship race. Like the best racers from each racing group gets invited to a bigger race or racing series to determine the best racer on that console. Make an annual or semi-annual event. If it gets organized maybe we can get some devs to offer up some prizes to the winners of bigger races. Something cosmetic, like a special emblem or nameplate to the winner, special sparrow color scheme, ghost color, or shaders, etc. If we get something really organized and it proves popular enough, it's a pipe dream but still in the realm of possibilities. I look forward to chatting with other people and working out details of this, and hopefully getting some serious races happening when the game launches. See you starside Race fans.
