On the Gamestop website, it says this:
Promotional Items
From time to time, GameStop.com will offer a special promotional item with a pre-order. Due to limited availability, these items are only available while supplies last.
Note: An order cannot be cancelled once the pre-order item or code has been supplied.
Does this mean once you get the shader code, you can't cancel the preorder?

Do you know you can cancle an order if you transfer the money you put in to another product. I preorders skylanders and couldn't get my money back so I put the 5 $ from skylanders and got gears of war instead..so preorder cod cancel it and say you want to put the 5 bucks on to your destiny game
-
I was able to cancel my Destiny pre-order at Gamestop after I got the beta code and poster. I was moving to a different state and I couldn't transfer the preorder to a new location. So I cancelled and pre-ordered again at a Gamestop in my new state. I gave my extra poster to my brother-in-law.
-
If you just put $5 down on it, get the code, and just not get the game, wouldn't that work? They just sell your game after 2 days of not picking it up at the store right?
-
Ya I assume that is what they do after preorders don't get picked up. But that still means you are paying $5 for a shader. But nobody knows for sure yet so best bet is to ask someone who works at a Gamestop and see if we can cancel preorders for sure after receiving the Destiny code.
-
You can cancel a preorder. I did it with elder scrolls online.
-
You are right, you can cancel a preorder, but in the Gamestop preorder help section, it says for promitional items once a code or item is supplied, you can't cancel an order.
-
Elder scrolls gave out a preorder beta code and some other goodies. I preordered at gamestop, used the codes they gave me, and cancelled the order the next day, no questions asked.
-
They didn't give you any issues with it because the Beta was free is my guess. I could be wrong.
-
No, it was an exclusive beta. Also, when I preordered destiny, the manager at gamestop assured me that if I played the beta and wasn't impressed, I could come back at any time for a full refund.
-
Yeah makes sense.
-
Thanks for the clarification, did you ever give ESO a chance? I was a huge Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim fan but am disappointed in ESO.

Edited by BludApostle: 8/28/2014 5:08:09 PMYeah, I ended up ordering the limited edition digital version, since the hard copy was sold out. It was alright. I played for a few months. Had 3 level 30+ characters and just got bored with the grind. It was good, just not good enough to pay a sub for. I went through all of skyrim stealth-killing and assassinating everything on my first playthrough, and loved every minute of it. Eso just wasn't the same. The story was very bland and unengaging.

Ya I was hoping for a much better product, the size of the maps and the skill lines were intriguing...but everything else felt like a letdown. I think bringing in a new Dev team experienced in old-school MMOs was a mistake and maybe they should have mixed some of the Bethesda Studios developers that made previous games would have led to a better game.
-
It might have helped.
-
Just put the minimum down, what like $5 and don't pay off cod. If you really want the shader, 5 bucks aint much.
-
It's GameStop, just sell your CoD once you recive it!
-
...so that means buying a $60 game and then selling it back to them after release for maybe $40 trade-in credit? Or preordering for $5 and then not buying the game? Either way, seems like an expensive in-game shader lol

Edited by Exalted Evil: 8/28/2014 4:22:14 PMWell just a thought, you could try ordering on eb australia would cost $10 Australian (about 8-9 US) as an Australian company they would be bound by australian consumer law and they can't hold money for a product you don't have and don't want anymore. Fairly confident that should work
-
That depends how desperately anyone want the shader!
-
Haha so true, so true!
-
Where does it say your pre-order can't be cancelled when given the code? I couldn't find that.
-
Click the gamestop link and check under the promotional items label...where it says Note:
-
Oh thanks. I don't know if I believe that though because last time I pre-ordered Destiny to get the beta code I cancelled because I ended up wanting the ps4 bundle. I still got the beta code though.
-
That could be right, maybe they don't enforce that rule or they don't do it for all digitel preorder codes. Its just odd that it clearly states on their website that- Note: An order cannot be cancelled once the pre-order item or code has been supplied.
-
Yeah. Maybe it's just a scare to minimize the amount of cancelled pre-orders. Eh, idk. Can this shader be attained in-game? If so, I see no need in even attempting to get it :P.
