The mantids are manifestation of a part of one's subconscious that is usually formed during the visual hallucination stage of a psilocybin induced psychedelic experience. They are slightly taller in comparison to human averages, are normally green in color, have a face combining features of a mantis with jaw features of people, mantis claws protruding from their forearms, and commonly communicate via telepathic means. While this may sound strange, what is even stranger is that such a creature is conjured up in the minds of said hosts independently of one another, and unaware of each other's experiences with it. Despite this lack of contact between people who come into contact with these mantids, each one describes almost identical features and attributes when they share of their encounters. Oftentimes, those visited are completely ignorant of the fact others speak of them until they reach out to tell of their own rendezvous - only then does even stranger dawn on some of them. Either these creatures are beings independent of our own minds, and are being interacted with via channels not yet understood by humanity at large, or, even weirder still - that somewhere in our biological subconscious, a collective database we share via mutual evolutionary predecessors, lies an archetype and singular blueprint for this hallucination. If so, it is so buried that it only emerges through extreme means of psychoanalytical exploration during chemically uncommon times of great instability. Which begs the question... What is this? Why is there? What is its basis? What reason is still present? And how does one trigger it reliably? Deeper still- what else is lurking in these deep recesses our minds? Hmmm
