Are Titans the weakest in the Crucible, or am I just worse than I think?

I've tried Crucible over and over. My friends tell me it's fun, and that you have to get use to it, but they're playing as Warlocks and Hunters. I'm constantly being wrecked by players, that are mostly Hunters and Warlocks. Even thinking about it, I don't really see that many Titans in the Crucible. The Titan abilities seem to only really work in defense, even the Striker Subclass. Is any other Titan just getting destroyed out there? I'm good at games like Halo and Battlefield, and I'll admit, I'm not great at Crucible, but this is out of control! Does anyone feel the same? Are Titans a weaker PvP class?

  • No dude. Gotta master that striker. Fireborn warlock you just killed, now has overshield? Fist of havok. Blade dancer comin at you? Fist of havok. Playing certain maps in control and you see that square fill up with red real quick? Jump and death from above fist of havok for a quad kill! But titans are op because the fist kills everything in one hit without fail. I mean imagine if we could do it 4 times in a row while walking across the whole map or dropping it 3 places at once. Getting to use it twice a game(strategically, I could use it 3 or 4 but I pick my spots for highest kill yield) isn't op.

    • I think the Titans personally are one of the biggest pains in my ass in PVP..just keep playing you and your Titan will become as one Daniel Son.

    • Titans are good. I've played as one.(don't look at my stats by the way cause I'm not the best crucible player, I'm still positive though) However, I usually play as defender with armor of light. What you do is you pop your bubble on a cap point and when people run in shotgun or mele them to death since you get a ridiculous over shield while standing in the bubble. It's also good to have helm of saint 14

    • I've seen Titans destroy everyone in crucible. Their high defense makes them able to usually win in a straight out gun fight or Melee fight. The defender subclass is good for control and fist of havoc can clear entire points.

    • Its mostly the player's skill. I have a 1.82 K.D. and the FoH is one of my favorite supers to use on Control.

    • Sometimes i depends on your skill, and your enemies' skills. Titans can be deadly as other class, but you have to get used to. But youll get good eventually bro.

    • You're mostly right. The only people that think titans are good are the people that don't play them. Fist of Havoc is RARELY more than a 1 or 2 person kill. The other dude was right, it shuts down bladedancers. But it's a little lame that the only thing your super is good for, is countering a more useful super. Armor of light is good, but only works on absolute tards. If you're playing against people stupid enough to wander into it, you're probably doing fine to begin with. Bladedancer and Sunsingers can just wander around obliterating everything in their path. Same with Golden gun. And Nova Bomb is pretty -blam!-ing hard to dodge or counter considering the radius, range, and how they jump into the air. It's comparable to Fist of Havoc, just... better. Titans have some decent grenades. The magnetic grenade is my bread and butter in crucible. I get a huge amount of kills with it. It's a guaranteed kill for every stick, and it has some aim assist, so sticking isn't hard if you have some skill. For striker, I go with the lightning grenade. Putting it on walls makes it hella more effective. The flashbang is almost ineffective. It only stuns for maybe half a second, useless. The tripline is probably the best in game, and I am also a fan of the warlock's fusion grenade. But titans aren't lacking too bad in the grenade department. Melee. Shoulder charge is... Not as good as it seems to most people. Honestly, I don't bother. It gets me killed more often than not the way people use shotguns in crucible. Unless you can get someone from behind, you're just begging to get buckshot in the teeth using shoulder charge. It only irritates people because it's a one hit kill. You know what's way easier than having to run in circles to charge up, then bum rushing someone? Hitting them from behind for a huge damage bonus, like the hunter. Or lunging in with OP flame shield melee, like a warlock. Don't bother meleeing with a titan, you'll just get gunned down. I am primarily a shield titan. Armor of light-shotgun at key points. Otherwise I run around with hand cannons, keep my distance, and spam magnetic grenade. Only use melee as last resort to get a shield. Even then it rarely works, the shield takes so long to initiate after the kill, you usually just get capped before it turns on. Titans aren't the worst class in PVP. They DO have the worst super, and the worst melee. However, like any class, if properly played, you can dominate. The learning curve is severe though, if you just want to get in there and enjoy yourself for a bit, and you don't have time to try and keep up with 16 year olds that play Destiny like it's their job, go with the Hunter. Blink around like you just don't care, and go ham when you get a super.

You just not good with them. Titan are tough in crucible. Of course to know how good a character is. It is base on the player skills itself.

          • I have a 27 titan as a third character, I like it better for pvp than my warlock and hunter, however it is playstyle, for pvp I would use striker you'll do well with shoulder charge lightning grenades and fist of panic

            • The thing about a titan is there abilities all reward only 1 real type of play style. I play all 3 classes and have always felt titan was a bit gimped, that being said as soon as I started my super properly and the right grenade i started doing a lot better. I may be wrong but I think the strongest thing about a titan (striker) is that the super shuts down all other supers. Crucible is flooded with hunters and honestly 90% of the time i just use my super to kill blade dancers. (Or to push their heavy) 2nd thing is grenade, to me it's all about playstyle. If you are more of a REactive player use lightning. If you are the one pushing around corners first being more aggressive ( Titans are the best class in the game for this imo) flashbang is the way to go. Another thing that might just be me, but I swear the Titan melee range is so damn short. If I shotgun then punch I always seems to be too short and i die. I started just shooting my shotty twice and I do SO much better in up close fights. Our ranging that op warlock flame shield melee is crucial. Overall kd on my titan is like 1.5 I think (2.0 in rumble). On my lock it's 1.7 so I'm not terrible but I'm not that great. Anyway this is my 2 cents playing quite a few games on a Titan. Ps. Watch AEGabriel, he streams in the evenings. 5.0 kd highest rated titan. Watching him and how he plays is how Titans are suppose to be played to take advantage of the skill set

              • I've been a titan since I got the game. I've played warlock and hunter on friends accounts, and IMO the Titan is more difficult to play. You're lead to believe the Titan is this super powerful, will own everyone in CQC, but it's not the case. You're pretty much on an even playing field in CQC. I was like you when I started...I sucked with the Titan. I had to start playing a lot more conservatively. In normal PvP, the biggest advantage is weapons, not the class. Get precision weapons, scout rifle, preferably. And use distance to your advantage. Learn to use the lightning grenade and some good placements for it. You can literally lock down flags in control with your lightning grenade while your team arrives for back up. The other big thing is to not waste your fist of HAVOC on a single person. Use it strategically, who cares if you die once, when you could save your super and potentially kill 3-4 people later. Every time I have ever panicked, I've needed my super a few minutes later. Defender isn't completely useless in PvP, you just have to be the support like the class is meant to be. Use suppression grenades and stuff like that.
