Are Titans the weakest in the Crucible, or am I just worse than I think?

I've tried Crucible over and over. My friends tell me it's fun, and that you have to get use to it, but they're playing as Warlocks and Hunters. I'm constantly being wrecked by players, that are mostly Hunters and Warlocks. Even thinking about it, I don't really see that many Titans in the Crucible. The Titan abilities seem to only really work in defense, even the Striker Subclass. Is any other Titan just getting destroyed out there? I'm good at games like Halo and Battlefield, and I'll admit, I'm not great at Crucible, but this is out of control! Does anyone feel the same? Are Titans a weaker PvP class?

  • My first bigger score was on my titan as my first character 46-3. Now it's on my hunter 43-0. But it depends on your playstyle. You can't say titan is the weakest class in PvP, you just need to get used to it :)

  • I've not had many issues run my titan in crucible. Couple things could contribute to bad k/d are bad weapons (true I've seen people wreck with the starting auto but that's a select few) and bad connection. Try different weapons, i sucked at crucible until I got the last word. Since then I go positive more often than not and when I do go negative there's those couple of people with red bars which I don't think is coincidence. Keep trying different loadouts and see what works best for you.

  • Stop caring. No matter how bad you do/good you do, you'll get rewarded the same. I dont get why people act like how good they are at the pvp matters in this game. Nice little badge of honor, hope it keeps you warm at night. Lol Also, shoulder charge all day erryday. You will get shottied nine times out of ten, but that one that lands is hella funny.

      • I only use striker in crucible and can usually get 20 + kills and a kd of more than 1.5. Which I think is pretty decent considering in terrible usually at fps games

      • Some general tips: 1) Know what guns are good. Some guns are much easier to do well with than others. If you are just starting, use an Auto Rifle. 2) Know the optimal range of your primary gun. Some guns are great at range but will tend to lose up close while some guns are much better up close. Guns that are below level 20 tend to suck at longer ranges due to inaccuracy. 3) Grab the heavy ammo. A lot of the time it is free kills so you will want to learn when they drop and have a sense of when they are going to drop. 4) Know when to run away. I someone gets the drop on you, you are almost surely going to die. You might as well try to save yourself a death and try to escape rather than stubbornly try to win that gun fight. 5) When two people are aware of each other, I find that the person chasing is at a big disadvantage. 6) Stop sprinting when there are enemies around. It will take you longer to draw out your gun. 7) Make sure you are very safe before you reload, unless you really have to. Try to know about how many bullets it will take to kill someone at full health. Some Titan tips: 1) Flashbang grenade is great for escaping. Lightning grenade is great for controlling space. Magnetic grenades are great for getting cheap kills when you know you're about to die anyways. 2) Avoid jumping too much. Jumping makes you vulnerable and highly visible. 3) I prefer to dump my armor in favour of recovery and agility. Armor has very little impact on your survivability and I prefer being able to move a tad bit quicker and be able make sharper cuts. I also like regen'ing health faster so that I can get back out of cover and start fighting again. Overall, I would say that Titans are the weakest at Crucible. I've logged many hours doing Crucible as every class and I find that the other two classes simply have more useful tools. That said, at the end of the day Destiny is still an FPS so gun skills and situational awareness will still determine success. My main gripe about being a Titan in Crucible is that I find it to be the least fun to play.

            • Having a good Defender Titan makes life easier in control. The bubble on capture points is good but when they pop their shield in situations where 4+ teammates get 2 orbs before launching an attack, that's when I really love you all.

Titans are strong in lots of ways. They basically can solo contest heavy ammo on most maps. People don't understand how to use titan supers, like at all. I watch so many titans super for no reason, or because they are going to lose a 1v1. That being said every class has its strengths and weaknesses, only bad players would have you believe there are op classes and bad ones. Your poor performance is entirley due to your skills and nothing to do with a titan. I can easily go an entire match without using my super and do just as well as if I do.

Titan class doesn't have the gimmicks classes like Hunters have. You'll do well as a Titan when you start treating this game like every other shooter - actually getting kills with your primary, focusing on heavy ammo when it spawns, etc. Our lightning grenade is probably the best in the game when you know how to use/place it on every map. Fist of Havoc should only be used when 1) the other team is going for heavy ammo 2) they're all stacked up on a control point or 3) to stop a Bladedancer/GG from killing the rest of your team. Don't be like the other bad Titans and use your Super as a panic button for 1 kill. Don't be like the other bad Titans who use Shoulder Charge, when shotguns/fusion rifles do the exact same thing without the suicidal risk (every Titan I see using SC struggles to maintain a 1.0 KDR, if that). Can't even begin to tell you how many Titans I kill with my handcannon as they sprint towards me like a complete moron. Learn how to effectively use your primary, especially handcannons - you might see some scrubs who run around with their special weapons out all game, but it's the people who get most of their kills from their primaries that consistently top the scoreboard. Use a machine gun, not a rocket launcher - rocket launcher might get you a couple no-skill kills, but machine guns are the foundation for 10+ kill streaks. Saving your Super for the right time is key to doing well; you can hear when Hunters activate their supers, so if you know they're coming for you, it's much easier for you and your team if you have your super ready to take him out. Killing the other team at their heavy ammo spawn before they can grab it/right after they grab it can change the course of a game, as can killing 3-4 of them stacked at a control point. Edit: Just noticed the date on the OP, I've been trolled.

Titans are mostly about.. 1. Weapons 2. Map/Situational awarness To play an effective Titan you must play as a dominant FPS player first. We dont have as many special abilities to give us a crutch. Shoulder Charge is fun, but its comparable to just sprinting with a shotgun...run, shoot, OHK. Our Fist of Havoc is comparable to the Warlock Bomb...but they have the luxury of using it at range. Our nades are rather "meh". No heatseekers to assist us or DoTs. No toss into a crowd and OHK everyone like a Fusion/Tripmine. The best we have is a VERY strong Shock stick and its dependant on landing it perfectly at perfect times. We have no blink or bonus slide ability...which leaves us watching other class warp away from our attacks or warping or sliding across a room and OHK shotgunning us. We have no easy to aquire oversheild, no armor boost for our special (unless we sacrafice SC) Our Oversheild comes at the price we must kill...while others just need to land a hit (new Warlock exotic gauntlets will allow insta recharge of this...prep for oversheild Warlocks non-stop) Our melee...is lacking. Warlock without a doubt is king of the fist. Easy to aquire oversheilds, insta-kills, DoTs and a Range that can land across a room. Our melee perks are all "maybe"...while others are instant. We "might" insta recharge, or we "might" leave a field of damage. Versus a Hunter be ready...the Hunter speed of melee can sometimes land 2 blows even if we strike first. Everyone will always fall back on the "Titans arent under-powered cause they have Shoulder Charge and Fist of Havoc panic!"...but its a weak arguement with as many flaws as Bungies idea of "class balance" As stated...Shoulder Charge is no better or no worse then just plain old running with a shotgun, you get the same results and to be honest are safer due to the lack of missing during animation, SC running out inches from an oppenent, and theres no 2 second delay to turn it on. Plus Shoulder Charge removes Fist of Havoc armor boost...which means.. Fist of Havoc, can and will force you to close the gap. Sometimes being shot down with ease. Ive seen Warlocks float by door ways and throw a Nova Bomb in...seen them hit me from inches away or 50ft away..theres no escaping it. They can eliminate whole teams safely while we must risk our neck. Void Bomb...A better version of FoH Golden Gun..anothet Ranged super keeping the uset safe Bladedancer..clear a room and have godly armor Sunsinger..more sheilds then we will ever see and eating bullets like a tank. Get a great weapon, learn the maps and have amazing situational awareness, summon every ounce of trickery and skill you have...cause as a Titan you will have less to work with via perks and be hoping for reward while taking alot of risk.

Im always number 2 or 1 when playing and im getting lots of hate messages from people. I love Titans so much I wish I would've made this character before my warlock. The super is awesome mele is something to get use too. But none the less Titans are badass and I love playing as one.

Yep weakest..but if played right we can beast. I run striker..Zero Strength. Buy from FWC for boots. Iron Banner Gloves (Melee refresh nades). Crucible Vendor Helmet (all Intel/Disc) Use a Grimm Citizen with Nade Replenish on kills. Use Crucible Helmet that is Nade kills Replenish Special Use Double Nade Exotic Chest Figured out every area on every map to stick a Shock Stick nade. Run perk that makes Nades last longer. I constantly have nades...I spam them! And my FoH is constantly refreshing fast!

                          • You need to find the right primary weapon and special weapon for yourself. Choose the right abilities is also crucial, like shoulder charge or juggernaut. When I play control, I like to capture (average 3-4 captures per game). So I usually try to clear out the area with an auto rifle and go in with a shotgun in cases I missed anyone hiding in the corner. If you like to hang back and snipe the control points, then I suggest a sniper rifle. You'll probably get 0-1 capture per game but you get a very good K/D spread.

                          • Its not the class bro, you have to learn the maps and gain control with your team. If your soloing then you need to make sure your gun skill is top notch as that will give you an early start to getting your super. Get pvp oriented gear and a nice impact friendly auto rifle would help you. I use vision, last word or any auto rifle. I have a two plus kd in every playlist and would be happy to show you around.. Im on xbone oh and I'm a Titan = )

                          • Not in my experience no. Every class works best only if you get the jump on your enemy. If you have someone shooting at you fall back, retreat around a corner and prepare for them to come around. Use your shoulder charge to your advantage when taking on more then 1 enemy. And don't be afraid of using your FoH. It's one of the fastest charging supers, use it accordingly.
