Are Titans the weakest in the Crucible, or am I just worse than I think?

I've tried Crucible over and over. My friends tell me it's fun, and that you have to get use to it, but they're playing as Warlocks and Hunters. I'm constantly being wrecked by players, that are mostly Hunters and Warlocks. Even thinking about it, I don't really see that many Titans in the Crucible. The Titan abilities seem to only really work in defense, even the Striker Subclass. Is any other Titan just getting destroyed out there? I'm good at games like Halo and Battlefield, and I'll admit, I'm not great at Crucible, but this is out of control! Does anyone feel the same? Are Titans a weaker PvP class?

  • You may need to get the hang of it some more. I think I fear Titans the most in crucible.

  • I think Titans can be quite good, the shoulder barge melee is evil, and if you pop a bubble on another teams flag and pull out a shotgun you just know you some fool is gonna walk in there and try and kill you

Play dirty. That's what I do when I play. Translated into some pretty high-scoring games.

  • I'm a maxed defender and I wreck in control. I've learned to not necessarily drop bubble on the point though. When you have a maxed out Helm of Saint-14 so enemies are blind when the go through the bubble you can drop it on a key choke point and use that to control a portion of the map. Weapons of Light is always good, or Blessing of Light. Also magnetic grenades, and high intellect and discipline. Lots of bubbles and explosions. I'd suggest give it a try.

  • Coming from a hunter/warlock, I would say warlocks are the worst. Titans get shoulder charge, panic button, walking shield, lingering grenades that do a dickton of damage.

    • I used Titan a bit in crucible, it's not any less powerfull than any of the other classes. It's all just a matter of utilizing your classes abilities, knowing the map, and using your super in the right area and at the right time. Defender was my favorite subclass in crucible, especially in controll. Pop your shield on a base, pull out a shotgun, and blast anyone that tries to come in and kill you. I've gotten pretty good killstreaks doing that with the defender.

    • In my experience Titans don't have any skills particularly effective for crucible unless you utilize the shoulder charge or juggernaut shield often. I mean you can still do very good playing as a Titan but the class itself doesn't offer much for PvP killing compared to other classes. But, the Titan excels in holding down an area.

    • Armamentarium. Max Discipline. Use lightning grenade. Remember to use grenades strategically. I can typically average 2 kills per grenade. My hunter is disadvantaged in comparison to how I use my titan. Titans are almost as good as warlocks for zoning out an area.

I'm not the best at the crucible but I do have some tips that worked out for me (I usually come in with the top number of kills nowadays too but my k/d is only like 1.5-2.2). BUILD - Striker - I focused on armor and speed (extra armor because living 1-2 extra shots DO make a difference). -Death from above, transfusion, shoulder charge, pulse/lighting grenade - Catapult with agility works extremely well (I'm able to dodge incoming fire with this set up). WEAPONS -AR: Suros Regime (Maxed out and took the agility perk). I used the Rare Shingen-E before this and that's fine too -Shotgun: Got Invisible Hand (nothing special but took the agility perk on this too) -Machine Gun (I think I'm currently using Deviant Gravity. I picked this because of it's STABILITY, IMPACT, and RELOAD). ARMOR: Most important thing is Armamentarium (2 grenades). I took discipline gear for the other slots. CLASS ITEM: I think I'm using the Noyb Mark (or however it's spelled). I think it's really important that a titan shows off that he lifts and thus should wear a class item that most resembles a gym towel. This intimidates people. CRUCIBLE TIPS 1. Get into the habit of glancing at your radar 2. KNOW the map inside and out (especially where heavy ammo spawns) 3. Always try to stick with the pack (unless if in rumble). 4. When Shoulder Charging ALWAYS have your shotgun out. This is because sometimes you can come up on let's say 2-3 enemies, you shoulder charge one (instant kill). The other two will usually be a bit surprised, so you blast them with the shotgun (and let's throw a punch some where in here too). 5. WAIT for enemies NEAR cover when you see them on the radar (don't go rushing to the red area just because!) and if they're coming start firing at the area BEFORE you see them. This works especially well with SUROS since the bottom half of the magazine does extra damage. FIST OF HAVOC USAGE 1. I generally try to save this for when there are 2+ enemies together, but hey sometimes it's better to kill one and live. 2. Fist of Havoc + Death From Above AIMED at people picking up heavy ammo = forum crying. 3. Fist of Havoc + Death From Above AIMED at people picking up heavy ammo = forum crying. 4. Fist of Havoc + Death From Above AIMED at people picking up heavy ammo = forum crying. GRENADE USAGE 1. Defensive usage: When you see blips on the map, toss 2 pulses (with Armamentarium) to the left and right of that general direction. Even if both of them kill you, you've weakened them for your team who'll pick them off at least. 2. Defensive usage: Your health is in the red, toss two out (same as above) and get behind cover to regenerate. 3. Offensive: Toss them onto let's say a control point or a common camping spot before you charge in there with a shotgun and shoulder charge ready. EXTRAS TO CONSIDER -I'm thinking I might like weapon perks for drawing them fast -Rocket launchers are clumsy (if a teammate steps in front of you, you'll blow yourself up) -Many depend on heavy ammo for kills (including me when I started), once you get set up with primary and secondary weapons that AGREE with you, you will do better -Keep an eye on your magazine count for both weapons (radar and ammo are on the left so glance at both here and there). -Sometimes it's best to keep a weapon halfway at the magainze (if there's a bonus damage perk attached to the bottom half) -PVP is a skill just like everything else in life. Practice practice practice.

    • Agility stat is important in crucible - try to spec your character to have decent or high agility and look for a weapon with the +2 perk. The Aries Nemesis X4 from the crucible vendor is a great scout rifle that I use.

    • Titans can't really go off on their own (depending on your skill level you could) since their supers support big groups. If a flag is under attack, pop a bubble in the flag and they will think twice about rushing in to get you. If they are all capping a flag, a well placed fist of havok can wipe out their entire team. You just gotta pick your battles.

    • Nah, Titans are fine. Synergize your build to match a playstyle that works, get gear to support it. I see fewer Warlocks than Titans these days.

        • By no means are titans the worst but if ur play style doesbt match at titan u may want to try another class....I got all my classes to at least 26 and my titan was my main at 28, I wud get worked over on crucible with him...for example I never cud get enoigh of a running start to charge cuz only a idiot doesn't see their motion sensor, and yea the panic button is nice but it's usually one kill.....I then switch to my warlock and hunter and the crucible got a lot easier (not even consideting the supers) just because they fit my play style a lot more

          • I have only played as a titan but I feel pretty powerful in pvp. I do seem to get the odd match where I am simply poo (things don't 'click and I do badly) , but very often I get around the 1.4 mark, or higher, so I am happy enough. My only qualms are that warlock baseline melee is better than titans; that people can run far too long a distance with blade dance; and fist of havoc had a bad habit of landing on walls or trees. But I'm sure every class had their pet hates.

            • 1. The Crucible is WAY more lethal an environment than you are used to playing Halo or BF. High level guardians have about a half dozens different ways of killing you. All of which you need to keep in mind as you decide what fights to pick...and what ones to avoid. 2. You really need to spec your Guardian differently for PvP than you do in PvE. In PvE, Armor and recovery play a big role in how survivable your character is. Whereas the Crucible rewards recovery and agility. 3. Titans excel in close-quarters, where Warlocks and Hunters are more ranged attack characters. So most of the really good Titans you see in the Crucible are armed with autorifles, or HC as primaries...and shotguns or FR as specials...and they're looking to get in the face of their opponents....and their supers can back off the enemy if things get too hot. 4. If you're a high level character (25+) consider Iron Banner. In Iron Banner your level advantages are active...and your attack and armor ratings matter. So as a highlevel player, you don't die from your mistakes quite as fast as in the regular crucible. So you both have time to fight your way out of them at time...and (more importantly) to see what you did wrong and learn from them. I'm loving IB, because I'm seeing mysefl get better with each match in a way that I never saw trying to play the regular Crucible.
