Are different Jumpships required to travel to different planets?
I've been playing the game for a few days and making steady progress, but Jumpships still kinda confuse me. I'm wondering if the differing types are just an aesthetic thing or if they are required to make jumps to other planets.

If you want to get to venus or mars you have to complete a certain of the story on the previous world/moon

It's just aesthetics. The first ship you get can take you anywhere once you get the warp drive from the second mission.
