It is not false, it's absolutely true. The protein I find in lean meats like chicken, beef etc are pretty much essential if I want to gain muscle at any reasonable pace. I have absolutely done my research and I know what I'm talking about. I'm not stupid when it comes to this stuff.

  • I didn't say you're stupid, I said you're uneducated. If you could please tell me about the magical properties of meat that aren't available anywhere else. And if you could explain this while you're at it. I'd appreciate it.

  • There is no explaining to do. I never said anywhere it was impossible, in fact I explicitly said it was possible. However, it is a well known fact among the body building community that having an omnivorous diet gets results much faster than a vegan diet. The reason is because meat has a much higher protein concentration than just about any kind of plant out there. Because of this, I have very little motivation to forsake these God sent foods for people like me and spend more money, more time and even more effort than I already am. I just don't care enough to make it unnecessarily difficult for myself. I would be much more open to this idea if I wasn't a body builder, but it's just too much trouble for me. I appreciate that some people are passionate about this, and I'm assuming you are too, but I am not because it's not a big deal for me. I would greatly appreciate it if you would refrain from making any sort of demeaning comments like many vegetarians are accustomed to making. Not saying you are going to but conversations like this usually result in the vegetarian insulting me because I don't see it the way they do.

  • I'd just like to point out that none of what you posted constitutes necessity. Simply lacking motivation does not make meat a staple of the bodybuilding diet. That said, it's remarkably easy to hit your macros on a plant based diet (there are vegan bodybuilding supplements as well). Obviously if you have no desire to do so then there's no point, but you did mention you'd be more inclined toward it if you weren't lifting, so I assume you must have some small reason to take an interest. I just don't like seeing nutritional misinformation. Being in the fitness community for years now, this happens more than you'd expect.

  • I am well aware of the misinformation that goes on. I am heavily immersed in the fitness community. I guess we'll just have to leave it at that. I will still strongly recommend against a vegan diet for body builders due to the sheer effort needed to do that. Eating meat makes it so much easier to reach your macros. And it's not like it's unhealthy to eat meat, but whatever. You do what you want and I'll do what I want.

Not sure what you mean by "sheer effort" because I can vouch that it isn't significantly harder (and countless others can as well). So I'd appreciate if you didn't go around saying that. It demonstrates the lack of nutritional education I was talking about.

  • You have no idea what you are talking about. you are just spouting the uneducated statements of other vegans. Putin ignore him, everything you have said is correct. A vegan diet in almost every catagory requires a 1:10 ratio to equal the same nutrients of meat. In some cases even 1:20 This massive consumption of fiberous foods actually increases the risk of colon cancer exponentially.
