I don't understand what is wrong with eating eggs. Our chickens walk around as much as they want, are well fed and taken care of, and provide us with this nutritious food. they are not kept in a small cage, although they do have a coop that they like to go into at night. the only other thing I can say from personal experience is that the vegans I have known seem to get more sick than any other group I have seen. As an employer I noticed this, and I don't discriminate because of it or anything like that and realize that it may just somehow be those I have worked with. So I am not generalizing and saying that vegans do actually get sick more than others, only that the ones that I have known do. I can't afford to miss that much work!

If you have those chickens in your own garden, I don't think there's anything wrong with it, I do the same thing, these animals are happy. About being sick, if you watch what you eat, you can get the same nutritions as carnists. At least you can't tell a vegan he's unhealty if you go to Mc Donald's from time to time. :)

oh no, not unhealthy, just for some reason they got sick a lot. but maybe it wast an oddity. do you feel like you get sick often, or more than other people? like just colds and flus and things?

maybe so. i really can't think of any specific reason why a vegan would get more sick. unless there are a lot of antibiotics passed through the food that most people eat. however, my understanding of pharmacology and physiology makes that doubtful. it was probably just a coincidence. however, i think there is kind of a right and wrong way to do vegan. and of course you have to see if your body tolerates it well. i didn't try vegan, but I did try vegetarian at one point in my life. lost too much weight, no matter how much I ate and felt light-headed frequently so i suppose it is not for everyone.

You have to watch the nutrients you get, find special vegan recipes, drink soy milk. For me it's easy, my mother does all that.

my sister in-law is a vegan and made these ridiculously good cookies for us. however, she did try our eggs while she was down and enjoyed them. it was like the first animal product she had in years, but she saw how we get the eggs and keep the chickens and thought it was very natural.

I'm not against these kind of eggs (except if the chickens came from the market), so it's a good thing.

Actually these chicks we hatched ourselves. It was really a neat process, and we had them living inside with us in a certain area to keep them warm with heat lamps for about 3 months. They follow my wife around everywhere! lol. she is like mother hen!

Yeah I grew up in North Carolina and did some framing as a teenager. Well I grew up on a farm but no live animals. As a teen I farmed cattle and pigs. And the farmer I worked with had an unbelievable amount of space for the animals to roam and the care I saw him give was amazing. I remember the first time I tagged the cows I thought, "oh no, this is going to hurt," but they didn't move like the felt it, (basically an earring tag) and it helps to emit stuff for mosquito protection. But he literally loved all his animals. Not a big farm, maybe just a hundred cattle. But the property seemed endless and he took his stuff to the farmers market. Just to me a totally different lifestyle than big farming.

As long as I was there we raised the calves. But much like neutering dogs, the bulls are neutered for population control. So there were only like 2 or 3 calves when I was there.

It's still bad for the environment and as you know too, the more space you give the animals, the less animals you can have and if you have like 20 animals, it won't make a big difference on the billions of others. It's still a good thing.

well this was his property, so i suppose he could have had no animals or raised them on a lot of property. i don't think that the animals he raised were bad on the environment personally, but maybe that's just me. we used a lot of natural products, albeit very expensive...lol.

yeah, i know...however, it does take more work. i mean, you have to check a lot of labels, and like every time we go out to eat with my sister-in-law who is a vegan we have to consult the chef to make sure no animal products were used. not in a bad way...i just mean it does take more conscientious food choice. some of us can't be vegans though. I get what feels like low blood sugar, like i am about to faint. i can have all the bread in the world, fruits vegetables, sugar, soy products...doesn't matter... i have to have a piece of animal protein and specifically animal fat to bring me back to life...lol. don't know why that is and i have learned it over a lifetime. but my body breaks down that protein differently. but just like our bodies were not prepared to have all the processed foods and sugars and bleached flour that was introduced from the 19th and 20th centuries after years of a considerably more organic diet in a way, humans have also been omnivores for centuries and it takes our physiology a while to adjust to veganism or any other diet. some can do it in a day, some a week, and some it just can't really be done in a healthy way, but maybe the next generation will do it better. at any rate, that's why i respect all people's food choices and don't discriminate against vegetarians, vegans or omnivores. the each their own.

eggs are released daily and basically the same as eggs inside a woman's body. they are laid and can attract predators as well as be bad for chickens if they eat them. so basically it is something which isn't really used otherwise.
