The Traveler supposedly saved our worlds, sacrificed itself only for our benefit. But is this really the truth? Do we have any infallible evidence to prove this? We, at Binary Star Cult, do have a theory. We believe the Traveler may not be as "holy" as it is made out to be. It may have acted only in selfish reasons, or even in malicious ones. It could have brought the Darkness to our doorstep intentionally, or it could even BE the Darkness. However, you may ask yourself, how can this theory be any more correct than the one that states the goodness of the Traveler?
The answer is: we have evidence. Or at least, we will. This is why this thread is being posted, to find, collect, and analyze the evidence of this theory. I will start it off with a piece of evidence below, from a ghost fragment. This thread is public. Anyone can put their facts or suspicions here. Don't be afraid to speak your mind. The smallest detail you may have could be the key to this entire theory.
Although we firmly believe in this theory, we do not want to be blind like some of the followers of the Traveler. If you have any piece of evidence against this theory, if you still believe the Traveler is pure, please, tell us. If we cannot challenge and refute your hypotheses, then how valid are ours?
Nevertheless, as promised, here is a bit of confirmation for the theory.

This Grimoire card is a brief passage from "Dreams of Alpha Lupi." It says:
"This has been such a long chase. This will be the place you will fight. Fight and win.
But do you really know why you go where you go, and where this journey is taking you?
The chase leads you where you need to be, you believe.
Unless...you are being pushed."
The final line is the key to this evidence. It questions the whole nature of our quest to revive the Traveler. It is not a particularly strong piece of evidence, but we will find more. We will find out the truth about the Traveler. We will find out if I will ever stop speaking like some kind of holy priest giving a sermon. Please, contribute to this theory, not to support any faction or cult, but to support every player of Destiny by discovering the truth.

traveler is good, speaker is really a bad guy and the traveler is gonna be destroyed and turned into fragments in the future I think during the house of wolves and the reef will be out new home .
-
I think there is two travelers like transformers universe Unicron and what his face. Good brother and evil brother.
-
You can't just expect to find evidence for an unsupported theory. You need evidence to create your theory, not the other way around.
-
I stopped reading at "We have evidence. Or at least we will." Haha

Why would the Traveler give out info about it being evil. The line has nothing to do with being evil. Bungie made it clear that the Traveler is good, and there is no evidence stating otherwise. What you posted is not evidence, but a weak attempt to validate your denial of the Traveler.

Edited by Bdog: 11/16/2014 6:14:58 AMI believe this too and here's a grimoire excerpt that helps support it and here's the link to my own similar theory: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/78923653/0/0/1 The Ghost said to me: You are a dead thing made by a dead power in the shape of the dead. All you will ever do is kill. You do not belong here. This is a place of life. The Traveler is life, I said. You are a creature of Darkness. You seek to deceive me. But I looked behind me, down the long slope where the blossoms tumbled in the warm wind and the great trees wept sap like blood or wine, and I felt doubt. When my Ghost raised me from the sea there was a thorn-cut in my left hand and it has not healed since.

In theory that last part could just mean the Traveler wants you to revive it so it can escape the second coming of the darkness. The piece of evidence that comes to mind to rebuke your theory would be the final moon mission in which the Hive are performing a ritual on the Traveler to weaken it. Although the thought that the traveler created ghosts to revive long dead soldiers (necromancy) could also point to the traveler being evil. Or one could say that the Traveler is able to do this because it increased our life spans and what not. There's two sides to every coin.
-
But if your theory was true, then in the beginning when the Ghost found us, we were true guardians but had our memories wiped and were brainwashed.

Edited by The Last Rōnin (Timelost): 11/16/2014 7:39:30 PMThe Traveler is evil, and he will usher forth an entire armada of Guardians who either forcefully or willingly fell to The Darkness. These Guardians will be known as Aggressors, and each class will have their specific roles outlined to greater degrees. Titans will act as front line Darkness soldiers, tanks in both offense and defense, with greater powers of darkness harnessing their already potent abilities. They would be the most powerful of the three classes, physically and weaponry speaking. Hunters will act from the shadows, incorporating their stealth-like abilities for assassination missions, espionage, sabotage and assisting Titan Aggressors from behind. They would be the sneakiest and most cunning of the three classes. And last but not least, we have Warlock Aggressors, easily the overall most powerful of the three classes, and only seen in the most dangerous of strikes or bounties. These beings would have absolute mastery of the Darkness, with abilities that could drown out the light of the sun, and create eternal night. Mirage clones, supers that would annihalte a 6 man strike team, and pure magical beasting to anyone not prepared to take one on. Killing a Warlock Agressor would be a tall feat indeed. These are the Aces of the Traveler's undead dark army. That's my theory at least. I could imagine the missions would be epic.

I pretty sure he evil, my theory on the story is that this setting takes place during the age of the ancient humans, the ones alive when the forerunners were. All I us guardians tripping on acid and inside the "traveler" is actually the primordial.. The one that said he was one of the previous species ... But in reality he is a grave mind in that time stasis capsule. This is near the humans end, where the humans make a pact with the flood in order to survive, (long story) the "hive" still attacking us even though we really on same side is to fool the other enemies.

The Vex are on every planet except Earth. Coincidence? Probably not.

Has anyone else noticed how the traveller is designed as being completely white, except for the bottom of it that has black. This bottom looks like either: The traveller is being consumed by the darkness slowly- he is weakened so this is plausible The White surface of the traveller is a facade, and the black at the bottom is where the facade has peeled away to show you his true colours ( the darkness)- perhaps because he is weakened. Also, if you look closely enough, you can see that the White of the traveller has black lines running through it. This suggests that the white that we mostly see are panels ( they do look like panels to me) and surely this is no coincidence? These "panels" of White ( which signifies light) could be fake used to cover up the darkness of the traveler as a facade, and at the bottom is where some of the facade has been lost because the traveller is so weak. The other side of the traveller is black, is the darkness- a bit like the yin yang

I heard the speaker say something once. I can't completely remember what it was but he said something about "Hiding in plain sight " "has its own agenda" or something of the like. Made me suspicious.
-
What if longface is a part of the traveler, and stalked us with his evil thoughts. Thats why he write under a false account.
-
The last line makes me think the traveler is evil because he cheesed his way here...like we cheese the Templer. And the Nerfed end-game boss.

I would not put any hopes in Destiny's story amounting to anything. Bungies lead writer quit a year or more ago, seemingly because he didn't like the bungled, content cutting plans for the game. Seems like he was right to leave before this turd left stains on his stellar reputation. Bungie is dead. Its a shadow of its former self full of scrubs with no integrity, shoving unfinished crap to gamers and thinking we're too dumb to notice or care.

Evidence of an alternative story (which was scrapped) in which your theory is correct.
-
The fallen: the first enemies you face, separated into houses or factions, with different ranks based on honour. Emit light when killed with a headshot, not darkness like the cabal.
-
What if, the giant walls built around the last city, and where you started after being revived, weren't built to keep the Fallen out, but were in fact built to keep the Speaker and "guardians" in. That perhaps the fallen and other enemies came to Earth in some massive battle to chase and stop the Traveller, but it ended up in a stalemate, the traveller exhausted, the Fallen just about stranded on Earth(or they leave a contingent to patrol the planet) and if any of the Travellers Guardians attempt to gain technology or interstellar flight, then they "jump" their ships to earth, to stop the Guardians from spreading. Of course, it could be that Guardians are neither good nor evil, it just depends on their actions, hence being able to wield the sword
-
The Speaker: "Whatever hides in plain sight is making it's own plans."
-
Half right, there is in fact a dark traveler, Xur mentions him if you stand near him long enough. Apparently, everything is mirrored, so there is good and bad everywhere (surprised?) so does this mean we'll see evil guardians? Unless on the note that we are in fact, the bad side and the "good traveler" is out to get the one we see on our Earth. Regardless, good theory.
-
Enemies have their heads popped off, light spews out. Sword of Crota is "dark" We wield it with ease. Psions have abilities similar to ours, that we got from the Traveler Various Grimoire Cards We dont't even know what the Traveler actually does, or what its purpose or motive is. Traveler came to Earth even though it knew the darkness was following it, so it didn't care about us, it wanted to be protected. Therefore we're given powers and advancement in technology. Some enemies say, "It's the Darkness!" When you get close to them. The Speaker is shady af We're an undead army, risen without purpose Only purpose is to fight the "Darkness" The Darkness is whatever the Traveler considers evil, but may not necessarily be evil
-
I was actually reading through some of the grimore cards yesterday and I was thinking the same thing it sounds like the traveler is having us slaughter all of his enemies so he can take over x)
"a side should always be taken... Even if it's the wrong side
-
Wasn't there something about the war mind sacrificing billions of humans to save or recharge the traveler by giving it soul power or something.
-
I see it but then again there are still so many cards that contradict what another card says. Being raised from the dead already isn't usually good. Heck for all we know we are fighting other humans that just appear to us as these creatures. Perception and mentality are everything. But just blindly going out and killing is a bit ridiculous. However when we see robots worshiping a dark blob of goo. I don't know how the story will piece together. A bunch of different orbs made by who knows what all have their own armies? So we all follow different orbs and kill each other? You can leave all the mysteries in the world in a game and I'll play but if we are going to have 3 different species/races to choose and classes, at least let there be some different story arcs or starting points. We all were revived in the same exact spot? Just happened to die in what? A drunk driving accident (since we were among a bunch of cars)? We are guardians but were not even BA enough to die on the battlefield? And the fact we were not able to go back to our revival location and at least do some more exploring is frustrating. If our revival was in some lab or preserved graveyard if you will. I'd really question the Travelers intentions. And if we are actually evil. Especially since Stranger danger lady is running around with no Ghost. But then wouldn't she know the truth and about the Traveler and not continuing to say there are more and more evil? So maybe we are all just evil and thats the point.

The House of Whispers is there to aid you brother.
