Ever since the update i have only been able to connect to my account 2 times. once, for about 5 min. twice, about 2 patrol missions and a trip to the tower. ever since i have not been able to access my account from my own xbox. i went to my cousins, signed in, and played like nothing happened. but, when i came home got on mine, and yet again "your permissions to access online multiplayer game play may have changed or your profile may have been signed in elsewhere." called xbox customer support just to make sure my subscription was still active. even though i already checked in my settings, and knew it was still active. the tech was very helpful and verified what i had already known. then, he tried several other attempts to get me connected to the game which ended in failure. so im stuck not able to play. "help.bungie.net" is no help and i tried to email or call. but, found no email or number. called the number on the inside of game manual which is activision. leads me right back to help.bungie.net. i looked through forums for 45 minutes and found nothing that i havent tried yet.
is anyone else having problems or am i just that lucky?

Try doing a full power cycle on your xbox (Turn it off, unplug it, and leave it for about 10 minutes). When you power it back up go and sign in to xbox live and launch the game. This will usually fix the issue.

Im having the same issue. Ive reset everything and I know I have gold for a few more months cuz I checked... this is really irritating... =/

I just port forwarded my router and the same message started showing up.....the problem might be in the router settings....will get back to you after I test the theory
