Lol seriously. I predicted this from the beginning, before alpha. I said if you randomize drops, you are contradicting the very method you claim to pursue. You don't "earn " that which is randomly given to you.

The way I see it, the biggest problem is that you don't have any sense of control over your progression. In most games, whether it's an FPS or MMO or whatever, your progress is determined by a ranking system. In order to progress rapidly and unlock gear and/or other rewards, you have to do an activity in order to get experience points, gear, etc, the quantity and quality of which is determined by your performance. The amount of progress you make is determined by what you do and how well you do it, so if you excel you know you're going to rise through the ranks rapidly and get the best stuff the game has to offer. If you do poorly, you can still reach your goal but it will take longer to get there, which is both a way of making sure winning is rewarded more than losing (common sense, right?), and as an incentive for those who aren't doing as well to improve their skills and create a competitive atmosphere. So, in short, you get what you earn, no more, no less. But what happens if just anyone can get the best rewards? Well, then, the only point in winning games or even just succeeding in general is limited to the satisfaction the player gets, but since the rewards are distributed randomly, it doesn't matter if you don't even do anything because you can get just as much or even more than the people who did better. That just isn't logical. One of the most annoying things about Destiny in my opinion is the Light Level system. Past level 20, the only way to increase your level is to acquire and upgrade better armor. It sounds simple, but there's no way to predict what armor you will get from drops. To compensate for this, there is a faction reputation and mark system that lets you buy better armor after saving up marks and increasing reputation by participating in Strikes, claiming bounties, and playing in the Crucible. That's good, but then the upgrading part comes in. There is absolutely no way to predict when and where you will get shards, as that is completely left to RNG. Therefore: Player A: Level 32. Does not perform well in Crucible, rarely participates in challenging Strikes, never played a Raid, etc. Player B: Level 26: Has played the game more than Player A, does well in Crucible, does challenging Strikes and Raids, etc. Therefore, how fast you level up has absolutely nothing to do with how much you play, what you do, and how well you do it. It is not necessarily a display of skill to be level 30, it just means your dice landed on the 6 more often than someone else, and you picked the right straw out of the bunch a bit more often. Unlocking an Exotic can be as easy as starting a match and then eating a cheeseburger, and getting a Legendary can take days of hard work.

Point is. People.

Actually, I have only seen players earn exotics in last place. It may be confirmation bias, but it's consistently the guy in last gets the exotic. If anyone has contradictory evidence, please share it, especially if the best player in a team got the exotic drop (I want to know its possible)

Bump for the lowest guy on my losing team who got hawkmoon. You the real MVP.

Okay, here's what I always point out in threads like this; Random is random. More often than not, I see the legendaries and exotics go to the midrange players than the bottom rung. Every player who participated rolled the same die with the same modifiers, and some people just get lucky. Now, you will find people here with similar stories and "evidence," but this doesn't signify a trend. It's because people who are upset by it are looking for validation, and thus, looking for threads like this one. The people who aren't upset by this, or don't have it happen to them to begin with, don't. They don't say anything, they don't post anything, hell, they probably see the thread and pass right over it. In fact, it's probably a safe bet to say that ANY trend that shows up in the forums is the vocal minority. You shouldn't be relying on RNG for gear anyway. Anything the "activity rewards" screen says you won should be considered a bonus at best. Your main goal in the crucible should be grinding rep and marks to get legendary gear that way. Now for exotics, it's a slightly different story, because every single exotic is subject to RNG in some form or another (xurs inventory, raid chests, standard drops, legendary engrams, wether you get an exotic bounty or not). That's by design; they're supposed to be harder to get to offset the bonuses they come with. So you can aim for some, but really, it's up to the game what's available to you in regards to exotics. I hope this quelled some arguments. Knowing these forums, though, it likely incited more. So I guess we'll see how this goes?
-
I got first place in an Iron Banner match and i got my 2nd Gjallarhorn.. i bet if people who did good and got something and took pics we would have equal amounts... people like to focus on the negative always.. its all random and some people are plainly not skilled or having a bad game. Relax.
-
I'd prefer it if you were taken out of the loot roll if you had a negative kd. Even if you are top and don't get anything the person on bottom shouldn't have a chance to get an exotic from it. It's a slap in the face.
-
The system is bullshit. Saying we need to "Earn" things with a RNG system is beyond stupid. They are just too lazy to put it in and the destiny fan boy's will be mad they are no longer special snowflakes! People just accept the lies bungie tells us without question while they pocket our money and fail to deliver the things they promised.
-
I got three exotics from crucible in two days. Two of them were in a row. Suros (Control) and PaT (Clash). The second day after that I got MIDA from a Skirmish. Two of them I was in the top and in one I was third place. This system is completely random number generator.
-
Lol, has anyone actually looked at all the images? Two are pictures of the last person getting a legendary class item engram. Who even takes a picture of that? Half are pictures of people getting no loot at the top, but everyone else was just getting vendor trash. Who TF cares about vendor trash? There have been literally millions and millions of crucible games played. This is hardly evidence of anything.
-
I've seen this so many times I've thought of leaving my console on overnight and let it run through matches... But doesn't the inactivity kick you after a while? I genuinely wouldn't care about leaving mine on if it didn't kick me.. I'd probably have a few exotics by the end. (hoping for last word)

Lol what's sad is this post could be so much longer +1

I get the no trading this I do.. it so sucks but I get it. The game would be so inundated with gear that nothing would be worth anything and no one would feel happy about grinding to get gear. In essence what's the point in playing? If this game was more FF14 like, it actually had a story and would huge and immersive then trading would make sense. As it is this is a small game and starting a loot system right now would not make sense. However I do think the loot generator needs to be fixed. I get giving lower level people items that will help them be better but come on.... I am tired of seeing people that do squat in strikes and crucible get purple and exotic engrams while those that do well get squat. Perhaps putting a dps bar somewhere and rewarding people for the damage they do would help? I dunno...
-
Our team lost, too...
-
This is why I laugh when people say they earn anything in this game. The whole game is luck.
-
....maybe that guys assist won the match...we don't know. Here's your icebreaker 1 assist guy, and what is this strange looking coin thing he got too?
-
Bungies like "for the lulz"
-
Just make a small trading system, like at the end of a Strike or Raid you can "Offer" to trade your obtained loot from said boss with another person for the same quality loot I.E. if someone got an Atheon's Epilogue and has no desire for it, but the guy who got VoC wanted Atheon's Epilogue, they may exchange during that time and that time only. Exotic for Exotics Legendary for Legendary Rare for Rare Uncommon for Uncommon Common for Common therefore you wouldn't have "Beggars" who spam the "offer button" to people who got goodies or people who post "WTB Ghorn" or "WTT Hawkmoon for Icebreaker, fully maxed rdy to go" junk
-
Bump.
-
Yeah. This is stupid. Fix this crap random drop bull shit bungie.
-
I got one exotic from crucible. I did the worst on my team in skirmish. Went like 8-5 in skirmish. Still did better than entire enemy team. I got the No land beyond. Earlier that day i got it from crota. And guess what xur sold that week. Seems fitting
-
Just have trading events once a month or once every three months set dates ahead..if you snooze you looze..
-
During the first month of the games release my buddy got hard light for finishing at the top of the team and few weeks later I got plan C from finishing 3rd. Have yet to see someone in the bottom 2 get an exotic
