In the Queen's Wrath you are guaranteed legendary armor that is unique. You will have actually earned it. In the Vault of Glass yes some of it is random but if you do the Raid you will get Raid specific gear like any MMO the drops are random in the Raids but the gear you get there can only be dropped there so you will be earning it. So there is a lot of awesome gear that you EARN in destiny.

Even the raid gear isn't really earned, it's random. I've completed normal twice, and the lowest levels who did little aside from slow the group down got the best items every time, while the ones who did the most got nothing but ascendants, ships and class items that can't even be broken down into shards.

Yes its random in the vault but you can only get it in the vault any mmo will have a random factor that is how the games work. If all you had to do was run through the game and then you get to choose a piece of armor everyone would be level 30 and it wouldn't be as hard or as much as a achievement as it is.

The final boss should never give trash like a shader or a ship or three shards. A sparrow? Fine. At least it's something you can use. You should never get a class item that can't even be broken down into shards from a chest that other players are getting exotics from. At the very least these class items should break down into more shards than a normal piece of armor. Cosmetic/useless items/ascendants are not adequate boss drops.

The Queen's guard armor is the "beggars can't be choosers" legendary raid ready armor for the people who have been shit outta luck with their engrams. I'm pretty sure Bungie invoked this to lessen the cave's hold on people.

Let's be careful calling queen gear unique. It's just a different looking vanguard helmet for Titans, I think. I've pulled 3 "queens guard helm" and all three were identical to vanguard helms. They may have flipped one perk each, but I don't remember now.

I do not disagree with you but while there is some gear you can earn in Destiny, to say there is a LOT, I would say is a bit of a stretch. Unless of course by earning means making you grind forever and a half (which is common) with most MMO's, but you hardely earn gear in strikes/crucible, where the bulk of the content is located. My 1st pvp match I've played in Destiny was last night, I was the top scoring/capture/K.D person from both teams and I got absolutely nothing, as well as another player who did quite well on the opposite team, while everyone else either got bogus items or rares/legendaries. I would say me and the other player earned our loot over the 1 capture and .71 K.D player on my team...... That being my opinion:)

the base trueskill is taken from SPM/KDR, that value is then plugged into an algorithem that is something along the lines of [player TS- opposing player trueskill deaths] + [pts+opts kills]/KDR(or SPM if in an objective game type) If your base trusedkill is low on average, when you preform above it you are granted a loot drop from a randomized pool. People who do consitently well have to try tons harder, but the loot they get comes from a higher ranking pool as well. All this was posted several times in beta and alpha and it ridiclous how many people either dont know or just dont care. The game rewards you for improving, not just being the same skill level all the time.
