Dude, that has happened to me so many times.
Only time I got any good engrams was murder cave. Not in strikes, not in pvp, not in missions, not in patrols. This is pretty frustrating.

I got mine via strike drops and vanguard marks. Was pretty quickly to level 27... BUUUT now I'm stuck. :p

I need to finish up vanguard to level 2 and I can get my chest... but it's irksome when I do a strike with someone and they get stuff, but I *never* do. Makes me wonder if they set a "success" random seed at character generation, and some players are hard set to have more RNH success than others.

Best of luck with that. Remember to do a lot of patrol missions and every Vanguard Bounty you can. :)
