When it comes to a game of this caliber and dealing with a publisher like Activision, the lifespan of this game is going to stretched to its limit on purpose. I guarantee that Bungle has a ton of content ready to be put into the game, but they are still under control and financed by Activison. Everyone keeps slamming Bungie, but for all the money Activison put into this game, who do you think calls the shots in that relationship?
On top of it all, if you dig deep enough into the grimoire cards, you will find that there are three other planets listed that have yet to be released. Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn are listed as other planets. That is essentially doubling the story missions and content that is already out right now. Sure you will pay $20 bucks an expansion. But if you look at the MMO model, that is a third of the price of a WoW expansion. I mean we should be happy we aren't required to pay a subscription fee. This is Activision after all. One of the most notoriously greedy publishers in the gaming market. Look at what happened with Elder Scrolls Online, the fact that you had to subscribe to such a game was ludicrous.
Now having said that, all the comparisons being given for Destiny to an MMO aren't really all that valid(mass contradiction, I know). If I could compare Destiny to any other game it would absolutely be Diablo 3. I beat Diablo 3 in two days, so maybe about six hours total. And then I have spent another 50 hours into replaying it on harder difficulties trying to raise my paragon level(Diablo equivalent to light levels). There is a pattern here and there was from the beginning.
All the casuals that bought this game due to mass marketing and hype, who thought they were picking up the next Halo, are now bashing the game for everything great about it. The game shouldn't be bashed for your misunderstanding of what you were getting into. If you come on here to complain and crap all over Bungie and Destiny, just save your time and trade the game in, honestly, it will be of no concern to Bungie and absolutely no concern to the hardcore who see the game for what it is. So go get some in-store credit at gamestop and wait patiently, and quietly, for the next CoD to come out.
