13 RepliesI have faith that Bungie will save this game with future content. That being said, that is no excuse for how insufficient the caliber of the initial offering of the game was. How could Bungie, the team that brought forth one of the most captivating and imaginative narratives of all time (Halo of course), fail to execute even the simplest of story telling aspects? No character development, no emotional attachments, no necessary urge for your character to succeed. The story doesn't make you care. Your own character doesn't even care what is going on. Angry Joe made an excellent point in his review. Your character is BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE and has absolutely zero reaction to it. That is a little bit ridiculous. The cutscenes are sparse and have the captivation of watching a guy watch another guy watch TV. What happened to the bad ass cutscenes Bungie produces filled with action and emotions and exposition bouncing off the walls? Wheres the cutscene where the fallen and cabal are in the middle of a skirmish and your titan skyrockets down with a fist of havoc to take them all out? Wheres the cutscene of Cabal moving entire planets? There was nothing memorable about the campaign. The campaign didn't produce any special moments or anything that made me say," Holy shit, I can't wait to play through that part again in another playthrough!" The only thing that made the campaign bearable (and the game for that matter) is the classic Bungie gameplay and the fact that the art team did an AMAZING job. It just doesn't make any sense that Bungie made this game. Halo basically became a culture. I've seen videos of people getting married in Master Chief outfits. I don't foresee anyone proposing as a Guardian any time soon. Now that my story rant is over here is how I believe Bungie can salvage Destiny in future content. Story:Just expound upon what you have. Let us in. It seems like you guys have a spectacular narrative waiting to just burst open into the world but you are keeping it from us or Activision has a gun to your head saying you can't let the gamers know Destiny actually has a story. Rewards: There are very little rewarding moments in this game. Please give bosses drops so I will actually want to go back and kill that boss again. I would absolutely love to see a legendary pop out of a boss after it was taken out, instead of watching the reward box spin into a final result of blankness. Also make it so chests pop open with engrams and mats instead of them popping up as icons because that just ruins the fun of loot. End Game: Please, please, please put in a playlist for weekly strikes and raids or at least scale the difficulty more appropriately so solo players aren't left out to dry. PVP: I believe PVP is pretty well done except for the ridiculous RNG of a player with a .3 KD getting an exotic, but hey, if you add an element like RNG based loot rewards in PVP what do you expect? Happy people in multiplayer? I think not. If Bungie delivers half of what they promised us in future content (which I believe they will) I will be satisfied. As of now, as a big time Bungie fan, I have been let down.
