But why play well when you can play bad and get the same rewards? I'm tempted to queue up for crucible with a rubber band on my controller and go out drinking. When I come home I might have some exotics waiting. I am currently bad at crucible so I tend to stay away, but if people are doing well they should be rewarded justly. We're not in the second grade, I don't need a "participation ribbon".

  • Because you are playing a competitive game? Some of the most popular games in the world are FPS multiplayer games that don't give you squat when you finish #1, and yet people pour countless hours into them (AND they try to play well). Besides, they are rewarded more than the players who finish beneath them . . . just not with guaranteed loot drops. - bonus marks if they are on the winning team - bonus reputation if they are on the winning team - presumably, they are getting more medals, because they are playing better, so they are also getting more glimmer - by getting higher scores, they are earning more XP to rank their gear and abilities up faster Better players ARE rewarded based on skill . . . it is only the "door prizes for playing" that are even for everyone.

  • Neither FPS nor MMO game types offer "door prizes" in PvP, because it doesn't make sense. If Bungie wants to reward the shittiest players with exotic gear (idk why I haven't received my exotic yet), then there should at least be strange coin/mote of light rewards for the best players. So the good players at least get to buy items/engrams from Xur. As it stands, a player who exclusively plays crucible (and plays it well) may never see an exotic item, and that doesn't seem right.

  • And an exclusively PvE player might not either. Up until I got my Invective today (from an exotic bounty), the only exotics that I'd gotten came from a PvP drop and purchasing one from Xur with motes of light (many of which were earned in the Crucible). Now I probably play two to three times as much PvE as I do PvP, but I have yet to receive an Exotic drop through PvE. Guaranteeing great gear to the best PvP players would simply put an even bigger gap between them and the rest of the group, which would chase away they average players from PvP . . . that's just a bad system. Now I would be fine with some sort of system that granted a few extra marks or some bonus reputation (fully in line with the goal of the Crucible, as stated in-game) or even cosmetic stuff (unique shaders, epic marks/bands/capes, etc.), but regularly rewarding skilled players with gear that amplifies their skill even further over the players that they are already beating is just a recipe for a stagnant future for Destiny's PvP.
