Reminds me of a creative writing prompt.
My hunter would keep a small, dusty book on her person for when the fallen just aren't biting on a stakeout.
Also her right pinky toe bone, that the Ghost forgot to reanimate back in Old Russia.

What does your hunter do in the book is it her story or a place to doodle? Also love the toe idea :)
-
Actually it's an old copy of The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury! Lots of the pages are worn down into an incoherent mess, so she adds her own short stories of her Mars exploits in the back.
-
Ooooh nice! Is there a signature or a note written inside that you don't recognise? A previous owner perhaps?
-
Behind the cover there's a note and signature in Russian, but even if she knew the language, the ink is too worn. Maybe the ghost could translate it.
-
What if there is a secret code written to some loot or maybe to another clue? Will there be treasure or a trap at the end?
-
The Ghost translated the text, which reads as an affirmation of endearment to a "Doctor Petrenka," written by her secretary. On a whim, my hunter's ghost pulls up the Doctor's office address in Old St. Petersburg, which ironically turns out to be a podiatry clinic.
-
Maybe the doctor dreamed of travelling to mars but at the time was financially unstable and couldn't afford to fly :(
-
According to a culling of Earth's old information network, Petrenka's secretary, Jean Dufresne, had been given an "executive order" to transfer to a similar podiatry office on Mars for "clerical duties." He worked at a military campus where he had sent the package from when he arrived. Petrenka sent him a package in return, but it looks like no more mail was exchanged between them. Perhaps her package remains at the Mars campus?
-
Maybe the darkness arrived? The war began
-
Yes, all non-essential personnel on Mars, Jean included, were sent to the Ishtar Academy on Venus. Transit between planets was almost entirely shut down as the Darkness overtook the system, and the few transmissions sent after are mostly Warmind status reports and warnings.
-
I hope jean or her omnidirectional family are still around.. Maybe your guardian wants to return the book maybe find out if the original owner is still around or maybe the owners children?
-
Unfortunately, any information about Jean after his transfer from Earth has been redacted for some reason, as has most of his personal information. Nobody has the surname "Dufresne" in The City. The only way to know for sure is to attempt to pick up the trail at Ishtar.
