What if, the giant walls built around the last city, and where you started after being revived, weren't built to keep the Fallen out, but were in fact built to keep the Speaker and "guardians" in. That perhaps the fallen and other enemies came to Earth in some massive battle to chase and stop the Traveller, but it ended up in a stalemate, the traveller exhausted, the Fallen just about stranded on Earth(or they leave a contingent to patrol the planet) and if any of the Travellers Guardians attempt to gain technology or interstellar flight, then they "jump" their ships to earth, to stop the Guardians from spreading. Of course, it could be that Guardians are neither good nor evil, it just depends on their actions, hence being able to wield the sword

  • The Titans built the walls of the City. I don't know why they would build walls to contain themselves, especially since the walls don't contain anyone.

  • And that is the history we've been told. Possible propaganda? :-)

  • Yes. The speaker says "no, it can't be" if you stand around and listen long enough. I have a thought that Fallen, Hive are human and much like Gollum transformed due to evil the same has happened to them. Fallen pray to servitors and Hive pray to machine god. We worship the traveler. See where I'm going?

  • The Speaker says many things that can be interpreted in multiple ways. This same attitude is present in most of the game. Bungie could be relying on players' natural tendencies to assume the Speaker and Guardians are good, while the enemies that players fight are evil. It could in truth be the other way around, and there is a great amount of evidence to support this.

  • Almost every line in the damn game for me has turned it's meaning. After playing through the story 7 times or so, every line I hear, I hear it as a riddle and try to dissect it. "These fallen are crazy as we are" hive possibly have a machine god. Sounds like the traveler. And missions have shown us that the Hive want to harness the travelers power not destroy it.
