So, information about cut content have been leaked and users on Neogaf have posted this.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=903125
Apperently a persons game glitched and allowed him to see all the content as locked, including the content we're not "allowed" to see yet. Like the DLC missions, Strikes and Raids.
I quote:
The first DLC will include 4-5 missions, 2 strikes(one on earth, one on Mars), 1 raid(on Moon) and 3 crucible maps.
Second DLC there is less details but I assume again 4-5 missions, 2 strikes, and 1 raid(which takes place in the reef)
Where all of this is on disc but have to be unlocked by buying the Season Pass/DLC.
So, there you have your proof. Bungie have cut content from the game and locked it for us to make us buy their Season Pass.
In my opinion that is a very cheap move.
Opinions/Further discussions?
Please bump this thread as much as you can to spread the truth.
Edit:
Further proof that most of the DLC is already on Disc. (From Neogaf)

Edit3:
To the people defending this.
How are you okay with this kind of stuff? Content being on the disc that you bought but can't use because they will sell it to you again in the Expansion Pass.
This content should/already is in the game but is locked.
Edit4:
People saying we're jumping to conclusions, that these areas are not even close to being finished and all that.
Thing is.
Since the areas are already there(some with enemies) they could have easily have included them in the game.
These areas were already in as far back as the alpha. Which means they had plenty of time to actually finish it all. (If they aren't already finished and Bungie are just waiting to release the rest of it to the people with the expansion pass)
These missions and areas should/could have been in the final game but were most likely cut to be sold later as DLC.
The areas already in the game proves this by showing us areas that are locked where they probably later only will unlock the missions for those areas. As stated in Edit1 "Expansion II is only 9.5 MB" which most likely is just a "key" to unlock the on disc "DLC".
Looking at the lack of content Destiny have right now it could have used this content on release instead.
Edit5:
Seeing that this thread now have about 380 replies(and still going) where the majority are either upset or angry at Bungie for doing this thing, maybe Bungie should address this in an official blog post and update us on how it actually is.
Is this DLC content on disc which needs a bought "key" aka expansion pass or will this later be released for free like the Iron banner and Queen's Wrath events?
Bungie, take a look at your fanbase/community, more than half of them are disappointed in the way you're doing business with Destiny.
Edit6:
A reddit post going over everything that changed with Destiny over the last year:

Same post but on Bungie.net:

It goes through everything that was in the game before release but later on got taken out for DLC or removed completely.

It says 6.9 MB on there. Also a very small download. Most likely a "key".
They promise us "New Story and Cooperative Areas to explore" but we all know those areas aren't actually new lol
Plenty of people have already been in them.
Edit9:
Quote from Neogaf worth reading:

I highly doubt the devs just cut complete shit out to sell later.
And that's probably what they want you to think. You'd be surprised what kind of crap they'd spin. Cutting content out of a game and then randomly blasting it into the market in pieces as DLC is profitable, so they'll do it. It's easy for them.
We have no evidence to suggest they aren't doing this. I'm much more inclined to say this is exactly what they're doing based on what we're seeing.
Thank god I didn't buy into this game. Pulled out last year when i realised what they were saying and what they were showing just didn't match. The $500m gave me a good laugh though. What a waste.
But hats down to Activision, it all worked perfectly. Expect other companies to follow this trend. The future is bright!
wazzanut wrote a reply worth reading:
Its like paying to get into Disneyland and then being told you have to pay extra to ride the best rides. People who dont complain about this place less value in money and self respect. I like the idea of releasing content over time to help keep things fresh but theres hardly a main body to this game, it feels like an empty introduction to an empty world. Its like halo leftovers and its starting to smell funny... Repeating missions over and over should be proof enough to the lack of content, its been a while since i felt a little screwed over by a game.
Edit11:
Another area have been found, now by Nowise10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xtf3NlYhB_U
As you can see it is everything is done in this one as well. All Bungie have to do is release the mission files and that's the DLC for ya.
Note that Nowise10 states that this is the 2015 DLC mission.
I mean, a 2015 DLC that already exist in the game. That is pure cheapness.
Edit12:
So, the area Nowise10 found a way into have been in the game for quite some time.
This is a screenshot from a trailer released on E3 this year in June.
http://i.imgur.com/4zFs3HH.png
Would you look at that?
http://youtu.be/hRRKtkuOeig?t=1m32s
So this area have been in there since atleast E3...
Edit13:
Another finished looking DLC area on disc have been found:
http://teambeyond.net/destiny-dlc-area-uncovered-mars/
http://youtu.be/fY_KKYQG22c
Now a strike in the Black Garden area.
As you can see it is a big area where you can't go because of this big energy wall, but with a sparrow you can go through it and enter the DLC area.
Edit14:
Another DLC area found by Corbman.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgoPfuphQvw
This is the Traitor's Ketch mission in the 2015 DLC.
Is you can see, everything is working as it should, it just needs enemies.
Edit15:
Once again, a new DLC area found by Corbman.
http://youtu.be/BtFey3eEzfk
This is the area for the raid on the moon.
Confirming that this also is on disc and only needs enemies to be added.
I know no one cares anymore so I will probably stop updating this now. Since, I don't really care anymore myself.
I've given up on Destiny and will move on to better games.

Edited by MaxJ: 9/29/2014 5:54:20 AMSomeone found placeholder names for future DLC? Great proof. Oh wait, someone glitched into an area and there were enemies? None of this area is mentioned in the mission descriptions. And "Reef Raid: No description" is 100% something that's already done. So the expansions are 9mb on the market? Most likely since that is what unlocks the ability to actually download the expansion ingame just like the last updates.
-
Well I'm guessing that all areas in destiny are already there with enemies and stuff but they have not finished all the stuff for it and it is just a place holdet for when the actually dlc comes out.
-
Is it possible that the expansion download file sizes are only for the setup files that run the downloader after you paid for that <10mb file?
-
*slow clap*
-
When they said this was going to be a 10 year franchise I totally expected to pay £45 and then be fed free stuff for 10 years. Why didn't they tell me there was going to be extra to pay before I bought my game? Maybe they could have bundled a season pass with the limited edition so I wouldn't be somehow surprised when DLC is revealed. Maybe they could have been fairly open with the fact that there will be at least 2 expansions in the first year before I even bought the game. That way I wouldn't look like a muppet by complaining about it. Oh hang on...
-
Is it possible to tap into the disc and see all this?
-
So.... am i the only one wondering why the hell is the level 26 and 28 strikes locked behind as DLC? Considering the fact right now anyone can reach even lvl 30, i see no reason this should be locked as DLC.. if anything THAT should be unlocked for free right now. and maybe it might add more challenge to the game to cull some of the complaints about repetition by making it take slightly longer because the enemies are higher level.. just a though..
-
+1 bump and even if it whas Activision to blame bungi can say NO dont kill out game as it is dont do that even in my job i can say no to my boss but not to often haha
-
By the way it problaby wasnt bungie surely it was activision that want to split up content andsplit it into expansion packs to maximize profits.
-
I don't think I'm willing to pay $25AUS for the "expansion" when it's only 4-5 missions, a strike, a raid (which I'll never play without match making), and a few PvP maps. The story is inconsequential so it's really just a glorified map pack. Glad I didn't buy the "expansion" pass!
-
Would you rather a monthly subscription? Admittedly they do this on purpose. Its pretty rare a game is released with all its content available and no new content being planned. I enjoy it when they dont plan the dlc they release it when the time is right. Its horrible knowing right from the beginning your going to have to pay more!
-
No point in arguing about this. This practice has been going on for years now and most people have just gotten used to it. That's why the videogame industry has been rapidly going downhill for a long time now. The introduction of dlcs really was the end of it. But as we know it, people will put up with everything because they sure don't wanna miss out on all these great games.
-
So let me get this right, you and the other moaners would only have been happy if Bungie had given you 10 years of content at launch? Stop wasting your time moaning and just go troll somewhere else this type of post is just so beneath you.
-
That proves it! There will be more content! I fail to see how this proves that it's already on the disc though...
-
Half of the content is nameless. I don't care if what they have is on the disk or not, if it's not complete it's not complete. This is all purely speculation.
-
Ermagerrd we has no evidence by anyone..just speculation and shady reddit posts, youtube videos, and conspiracies but it are.must beh teh trooth. Hurry i csnt slam the keys on my keyboard fast enough to say how much dis are.bad. Errrbody jump to conclusions!!
-
Some of the structure is on the disc. Given parallel development, this is not at all surprising. Doesn't mean the content files are there, and even if they are that doesn't mean that the content was cut.
-
Content on a disk isn't any indication that something was "cut" from the game. Expansions/DLC is prepped far in advance of it's actual release, and often data will be made for it and place on the disk, so the base is on there. This isn't anything strange and is common in game development. I guess everyone see's something as "If everything that's been worked on up to the date of release is not included, then the data has been cut. Even if said data is not finished/prepared."
-
Edited by NotAHumanshield: 9/29/2014 1:30:41 AMIt's pretty common practice for developers to put DLC content in slowly through patches and such so they can test it in the actual game. This way you can have smooth DLC releases relatively bug free. the actual expansion is only 9.5 mb because thats the size of the bits of code which unlock the content for you. if you could actually download the DLCs why don't they release them now? Icons and a (really small) map really prove nothing that anything was cut. Usually when you have a large developing studio like bungie you delegate tasks to certain groups so that way everything gets done in a timely manner. So it doesn't surprise me that they already had content for the expansions pre-release. Even if they cut anything it was because they couldn't finish it within Activisons release dates. Anyways, now bungie has more time to polish out this content so it is the best it can be. It's pathetic to assume on so little evidence. If they had voice-overs, Actual bosses, and playable missions i would agree. But you don't all you have to show is, what seems to me, unfinished content.
-
Edited by Tersidre: 9/29/2014 3:47:15 AMThis is extremely common practice, chances are they have been working on the DLC content for months before the game released, anyone who is upset by this has no idea the amount of time and effort it takes to keep a project like this going. They can't just churn stuff out in a couple of weeks. It takes the entire team working together and then some to bring content to us. So of course there is stuff in the game data that is there waiting to be turned on. Big whoop... further more of course content was cut, in a game like this they are working on stuff right up to release date and beyond... you ship the parts of things that can be put in place already so that way you dont run the risk of causing major mishaps trying to push huge things at once.
-
Title of thread should be "Proof logic is dead."
-
If the 9mb pass is up, does that mean the expansion is finished? Otherwise, could the pass just be a key to trigger destiny to update itself with expansion? I mean to tell the game itself to go and update? Or could it mean everyone will download the expansion, but only people who buy it will have access? They will certainly need everyone to download any new weapons our armor, and on the off chance a new subclass ever shows, they would need everyone to download those assets as well Or it could just mean they cut half the game. A balsy move to be so obvious about it.
-
I wont even bother reading this or the comments mainly because anyone that brings this topic up or tries to defend Destiny from it is either biased or an arrogant prick there are only a few people on here that actually look at the good and the bad but honestly if you think that Bungie either didn't cut content or that Destiny isn't lacking in almost all aspects and has many broken systems and issues then you are just one of the many blind consumers, this game is okay it has so much potential and if Bungie had been honest and stayed true to their original ideas and gameplay then this game would be the "massive exploration with a huge variety of options both in loot and customization" but sadly most likely due to Activision wanting to release it as overpriced dlc the game we all would have enjoyed endlessly isn't what we got and that's disappointing.

Edited by morrigh4n: 9/30/2014 7:28:25 AMLooking to argue... Everytime :(

i think the ultimate proof will be if we actually get a level 10 strike. In what world would a game release extremely low level content in a DLC? DLC's are purchased by people who have already played the game for quite some time. So how would a level 10 strike be in a DLC to begin with?
-
You're a moron. Every game has DLC's. Its not cut content, its consumer/producer marketing. Producer wants you, the consumer, to continuously pay them money so they can get rich, every company worldwide does it, aside from non-profit. It's not cut content, For what, 38$ which is minimal compared to bills you pay monthly, 38$ for hours, days, of content, is a good deal. Look at the Fallout Franchise, each game has a good 4 DLC's which add missions, items, etc. Look at any F2P mmo, most have an ingame store with real world cash. You pay them money, they reward you with content. Why should Bungie be any different? Bungie particularly is a money grabbing company, but a respected one nonetheless. Lastly, they claimed this series will last ten years. Well they have to keep you interested for that long don't they? So they release content for you to purchase every so often to keep you with them. Who gives if its 20$ a dlc, or 60$ a new game, that's really cheap when you make even minimum wage. Don't hate on Bungie because they're trying to make money. They have a full team of people just like you and me, trying to feed a family and pay the bills.
