So, information about cut content have been leaked and users on Neogaf have posted this.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=903125
Apperently a persons game glitched and allowed him to see all the content as locked, including the content we're not "allowed" to see yet. Like the DLC missions, Strikes and Raids.
I quote:
The first DLC will include 4-5 missions, 2 strikes(one on earth, one on Mars), 1 raid(on Moon) and 3 crucible maps.
Second DLC there is less details but I assume again 4-5 missions, 2 strikes, and 1 raid(which takes place in the reef)
Where all of this is on disc but have to be unlocked by buying the Season Pass/DLC.
So, there you have your proof. Bungie have cut content from the game and locked it for us to make us buy their Season Pass.
In my opinion that is a very cheap move.
Opinions/Further discussions?
Please bump this thread as much as you can to spread the truth.
Edit:
Further proof that most of the DLC is already on Disc. (From Neogaf)

To the people defending this.
How are you okay with this kind of stuff? Content being on the disc that you bought but can't use because they will sell it to you again in the Expansion Pass.
This content should/already is in the game but is locked.
Edit4:
People saying we're jumping to conclusions, that these areas are not even close to being finished and all that.
Thing is.
Since the areas are already there(some with enemies) they could have easily have included them in the game.
These areas were already in as far back as the alpha. Which means they had plenty of time to actually finish it all. (If they aren't already finished and Bungie are just waiting to release the rest of it to the people with the expansion pass)
These missions and areas should/could have been in the final game but were most likely cut to be sold later as DLC.
The areas already in the game proves this by showing us areas that are locked where they probably later only will unlock the missions for those areas. As stated in Edit1 "Expansion II is only 9.5 MB" which most likely is just a "key" to unlock the on disc "DLC".
Looking at the lack of content Destiny have right now it could have used this content on release instead.
Edit5:
Seeing that this thread now have about 380 replies(and still going) where the majority are either upset or angry at Bungie for doing this thing, maybe Bungie should address this in an official blog post and update us on how it actually is.
Is this DLC content on disc which needs a bought "key" aka expansion pass or will this later be released for free like the Iron banner and Queen's Wrath events?
Bungie, take a look at your fanbase/community, more than half of them are disappointed in the way you're doing business with Destiny.

A reddit post going over everything that changed with Destiny over the last year:

It goes through everything that was in the game before release but later on got taken out for DLC or removed completely.

It says 6.9 MB on there. Also a very small download. Most likely a "key".
They promise us "New Story and Cooperative Areas to explore" but we all know those areas aren't actually new lol
Plenty of people have already been in them.
Edit9:
Quote from Neogaf worth reading:

I highly doubt the devs just cut complete shit out to sell later.
And that's probably what they want you to think. You'd be surprised what kind of crap they'd spin. Cutting content out of a game and then randomly blasting it into the market in pieces as DLC is profitable, so they'll do it. It's easy for them.
We have no evidence to suggest they aren't doing this. I'm much more inclined to say this is exactly what they're doing based on what we're seeing.
Thank god I didn't buy into this game. Pulled out last year when i realised what they were saying and what they were showing just didn't match. The $500m gave me a good laugh though. What a waste.
But hats down to Activision, it all worked perfectly. Expect other companies to follow this trend. The future is bright!
wazzanut wrote a reply worth reading:
Its like paying to get into Disneyland and then being told you have to pay extra to ride the best rides. People who dont complain about this place less value in money and self respect. I like the idea of releasing content over time to help keep things fresh but theres hardly a main body to this game, it feels like an empty introduction to an empty world. Its like halo leftovers and its starting to smell funny... Repeating missions over and over should be proof enough to the lack of content, its been a while since i felt a little screwed over by a game.
Edit11:
Another area have been found, now by Nowise10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xtf3NlYhB_U
As you can see it is everything is done in this one as well. All Bungie have to do is release the mission files and that's the DLC for ya.
Note that Nowise10 states that this is the 2015 DLC mission.
I mean, a 2015 DLC that already exist in the game. That is pure cheapness.
Edit12:
So, the area Nowise10 found a way into have been in the game for quite some time.
This is a screenshot from a trailer released on E3 this year in June.
http://i.imgur.com/4zFs3HH.png
Would you look at that?
http://youtu.be/hRRKtkuOeig?t=1m32s
So this area have been in there since atleast E3...
Edit13:
Another finished looking DLC area on disc have been found:
http://teambeyond.net/destiny-dlc-area-uncovered-mars/
http://youtu.be/fY_KKYQG22c
Now a strike in the Black Garden area.
As you can see it is a big area where you can't go because of this big energy wall, but with a sparrow you can go through it and enter the DLC area.
Edit14:
Another DLC area found by Corbman.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgoPfuphQvw
This is the Traitor's Ketch mission in the 2015 DLC.
Is you can see, everything is working as it should, it just needs enemies.
Edit15:
Once again, a new DLC area found by Corbman.
http://youtu.be/BtFey3eEzfk
This is the area for the raid on the moon.
Confirming that this also is on disc and only needs enemies to be added.
I know no one cares anymore so I will probably stop updating this now. Since, I don't really care anymore myself.
I've given up on Destiny and will move on to better games.

Just because content is on a disc doesn't mean that it was cut from the main release. the content you're refering to will be available in teh future as for free or as paid DLC. It was never intended to be part of the initial release. It takes time to develop game content. Did you seriously think that Bungie finished Destiny and then stopped working on new content until after the game was released? And do you seriously expect that just because additional content other than what was provided with the initial release was produced that you deserve immediately and for free? You got the game you paid for. Constant complaining that it wasn't what you wanted or that you were expecting more doesn't change that fact. Bungie didn't lie to you. Bungie didn't withhold content that you paid for. Bungie isn't trying to cheat you out of your money.
-
I see allot of people complaining about a "lack of content" I thinks that destiny is awesome and can't wait for the release of more content. Take vanilla WOW, that was exactly the same, not allot of content, only a few dungeons and a low level cap. I recently jumped back into WOW and was instantly overwhelmed by how much there was to do, I literally had no idea what or where anything was! I very shortly left again as I was once again a n00b that no body had time to help. The real balance that bungie needs to get right is the release of free and paid content. There should be enough free content and decent updates to keep people interested for the foreseeable future, several more dungeons, raids and events BEFORE we need to start paying for expansions. Plus the expansions should be big enough to warrant the £10-15 we are inevitably going to have to pay for them. But I must say bungie, so far so good and thanks for releasing a awesome game.
-
Nothing was cut, if it was cut then the descriptions of the House of Wolves stuff would be all correct and there, with better titles than the ones they have now. Is that what you call "finished", no, they had a plan as to what they were gonna do with the DLC, they put the mission points and a few hooks in the game so the content can be smoothly added when it's finished.
-
Destiny is a FREE TO PLAY mmo. So there's really two options here. Option #1: Pay a monthly subscription (of around $15) to play the game. Option #2: Fork out cash for each new bit of content as it is released. Guild Wars pretty much does this so I don't know why you're all so shocked.
-
Edited by ZeroMike: 9/29/2014 9:07:06 AMSo because they have planned out their dlc missions and content and put means to access said content on the disc but hidden away... This somehow means all the content is done but has been cut/is already on the disc? I cannot wait until dlc release day when people see the file size and realise how wrong they were... Having framework for future dlc plans is not uncommon practice guys and gals.
Also they could have patched those options in amongst the updates we've had
-
So some locks on a map and a couple of enemies in glitches areas means that all that was 100% ready at release day. I love how everyone insists it was cut content and not just.... UNFINISHED CONTENT?
what a concept I know
-
Hmm, I think I'll reserve judgement for now. If it's 100% on the disk and basically playable, then that's one thing, but if the groundwork is on the disk and the actual content is unplayable, then that's different.
-
Edited by Sapid: 9/29/2014 10:35:34 AMIt's not that big of a deal. On disc implies finished, not planned. This is just planning, and the areas you can get into are glitchy, unfinished, and the one is even low res. Half of the places "revealed" with that glitch have locations floating outside the map, or descriptions like moon_portal. Does that sound finished? Posting inflammatory titles doesn't make thinks better. I'm not a blind sheep, the people raging without further investigation are blind sheep. Now, if all that DLC was finished completely, then sure it's stupid. But it's not, so why get worked up? You want to play some buggy and unenjoyable missions?
-
THERE IS NO GOD DAMN PROOF THIS IS EXPANSION PASS MATERIAL SO STOP ACTING LIKE IT IS YA LITTLE ANGO!!!!
-
I see no proof of cut content. I just see proof of planned DLC.
-
Freaking hell, they aren't on the disc they are place holders. In call of duty for example, you can see camos available to equip but you need to buy the dlc. They aren't on the disc
-
Edited by bantad87: 9/29/2014 11:25:21 AMI think you don't understand how game development works. As content is created, produced, and tested, it is included in the current build of the game. Keeping content seperated from the main game could create unforeseen glitches and bugs when it is finally imported into the main game for release - so developers often test or produce content alongside the main game build. That doesn't mean the content is complete or tested - so developers will often hide or restrict access to this content except under their development kits. Basically, just because the content is currently in the game does not mean it is complete or playable, it's probably still being produced and/or tested. Also, a lot of DLC now a days is produced by outside, contracted game companies - freeing Bungie's own employees to work on the normal game.
-
The content can't be on disk. The game is one disk on 360, with close to an hour plus of install and download time. Those are most likely place holders, and when the content drops, will require another large download. I'm sure the star map has all the locations and shows what's there, but there's no way all the assets are on one disk for those missions in the expansions.
-
Of course most of it is already on disc ... We are not going to new locations just new scenarios. That being said the content wasn't cut it just isn't in the game yet, how can you not realize that we are not ever going to get any new actual places in this game (aside from the reef raid and maybe the raid on the moon). Your whining and claims of "cut content" are baseless and if you knew anything about how "patches" (or things like them such as the DLC for this game) you would know they encode and download small bits of the content during updates but lock it until either a certain time or certain conditions are met. Really wish you people weren't so -blam!-ing retarded.
-
That's not proof of them cutting content. It is proof of them having unfinished content. If you or anyone else is so pissed at Bungie about it stop playing the game and GTFO of the forums. I'll be spending my $35 on the Expansion Pass even after seeing this. And yes Bungie could have done better with this game, but I have spent over 100 hours in game and that's more then I can say for some other games at $60 plus season passes. On a side note, ever heard of a company called Capcom? All I'm trying to say is please delete your post, STFU, and GTFO.
-
I still don't see the proof man I see a lot of theory/conspiracy but I don't see any proof
-
Money talks, bullshit walks. Don't buy the DLC if you think you were jobbed. Only way for any company to know how you feel is in the pocketbook, not a long rambling post.
-
Do any of you work for a reputable game development company. I think not just cause terrain may be there does not mean the thousands of man hours between coding designing planning and testing have been done. About the 9mb file size thats only a file that tells the game/server you have purchased the dlc the rest will be like almost every other game downloaded afterwards. Either or at least 75% of you that complain will still be here buying the dlc it never fails. Even if 25% leave which I doubt will happen it wont put a dent in there pockets there still going to make more money then any of us do and still continue to develope content and games. EA has proven that even as a supposed worst company still makes the money. I already paid for my first 2 dlc and I will most likly buy future ones.
-
*sigh*
-
I really don't get where proper planning somehow equates to content being cut. If you bought the collectors edition or digital guardian edition you knew that you were getting two expansion packs with your purchase along with the names of those expansions. This doesn't mean that the content for these expansions was complete at the time of launch. It's only proper planning to have your future content mapped out. Why would they release a game without knowing where future missions, strikes and raids would go on the map. It's clear from the video that a lot of these locations are using placeholder description or titles. They're clearly not done. Someone else brought this up and I thought it was a fair example. Look at world of warcraft. From the start there have been areas for instance portals, blocked off regions, and in general areas for future content. That doesn't mean that the content isn't done it means it's not ready.
-
Nah man They cut content cause people really like playing small scale games. Look at titanfall. No one was disappointed with titanfall. Oh! Bf4 too. No one was disappointed with that either.
-
Hey OP you realize this is place holder information just text and words on an un finished product right? It isnt already on your disk silly
-
DISCLAIMER::::::::THIS IS NOT S DEFENSE STATEMENT. I COULD CARE LESS IF THIS WAS BUNGIE OR ANY OTHER COMPANY. Many many many games do this. Let's take one of the biggest games in recent memory. World of warcraft. When it launched there were tens of hundreds of places you could not get to due to them not being finished. For anyone familiar with this....Caverns of time anyone????? Just because something is "already in" a game means NOTHING. Why don't you explain to everyone how fast you can come up with........3-4 full encounters inside of a raid. Make the bosses...all of thier mechanics....all the new mechanics that will be introduced into that fight that have not been in the game yet......Example: Relics in VOG. Now once you have come up with how these encounters will work, you need to code the encounters. Now once you have coded all this crap you need to test it.....and test it.....and test it. Sometimes starting over from scratch over and over. TLDR:::: Just because an ENVIRONMENT is ready to go does not mean the bosses/quests/mecahnics/story/CGI/loot are ready to go. Yes they can throw in some rehash enemies as PLACEHOLDERS. But that by no means makes it complete. Please please please understand how making content works before you spout off at the mouth in a idiotic manner.
-
this is a common practice in most persistent world games (like mmos) the content team finishes the main game (the content amount on the main game can be debated and is being so) when they finish it goes over to a team that does polish and bug fixes also no a your quality control team. the content team then moves on to they're next job. what your seeing is place holders for this stuff the patch is most likely to unlock this content and all the patching and fixing the quality control team has done to make this DLC playable. so like i said the amount of content we got in the start can be questioned but what you are seeing in that video in no way shows they cut any content before release just that the planed ahead and are doing what any game company would do for a game that gets post release content.
-
It doesn't prove they cut it. It just proves that they have planned for it. I have no issue with this. The fact that there appears to quite a bit of it is actually VERY reassuring as far as I'm concerned.
-
Edited by florieger: 9/29/2014 2:24:52 PMI can understand that you would like to get the first expansion for free. But besides that, I don't see your point. Bungie offered you a certain content for a certain amount of money. You can accept this offer or not. If they think that can make extra money by moving content to an expansion, it's there right to do so. It's their content. They can do whatever they want. It doesn't matter if that content existed when the game was released or not. The whole "it is already on the disc" thing is stupid. You can download most of the software for free in our days. Even windows, office, photoshop, etc. What you need to legally use it, is a license key, in other words: the right to use it. Bungie can decide if they offer you that right with the initial game or with an additional add-on with an additional price. In the supermarket you don't get all the bananas for the price of one, just because they are already there. Sorry about the long post, but I get upset when people treat other people's Intellectual Property as a common good.
