So, information about cut content have been leaked and users on Neogaf have posted this.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=903125
Apperently a persons game glitched and allowed him to see all the content as locked, including the content we're not "allowed" to see yet. Like the DLC missions, Strikes and Raids.
I quote:
The first DLC will include 4-5 missions, 2 strikes(one on earth, one on Mars), 1 raid(on Moon) and 3 crucible maps.
Second DLC there is less details but I assume again 4-5 missions, 2 strikes, and 1 raid(which takes place in the reef)
Where all of this is on disc but have to be unlocked by buying the Season Pass/DLC.
So, there you have your proof. Bungie have cut content from the game and locked it for us to make us buy their Season Pass.
In my opinion that is a very cheap move.
Opinions/Further discussions?
Please bump this thread as much as you can to spread the truth.
Edit:
Further proof that most of the DLC is already on Disc. (From Neogaf)

To the people defending this.
How are you okay with this kind of stuff? Content being on the disc that you bought but can't use because they will sell it to you again in the Expansion Pass.
This content should/already is in the game but is locked.
Edit4:
People saying we're jumping to conclusions, that these areas are not even close to being finished and all that.
Thing is.
Since the areas are already there(some with enemies) they could have easily have included them in the game.
These areas were already in as far back as the alpha. Which means they had plenty of time to actually finish it all. (If they aren't already finished and Bungie are just waiting to release the rest of it to the people with the expansion pass)
These missions and areas should/could have been in the final game but were most likely cut to be sold later as DLC.
The areas already in the game proves this by showing us areas that are locked where they probably later only will unlock the missions for those areas. As stated in Edit1 "Expansion II is only 9.5 MB" which most likely is just a "key" to unlock the on disc "DLC".
Looking at the lack of content Destiny have right now it could have used this content on release instead.
Edit5:
Seeing that this thread now have about 380 replies(and still going) where the majority are either upset or angry at Bungie for doing this thing, maybe Bungie should address this in an official blog post and update us on how it actually is.
Is this DLC content on disc which needs a bought "key" aka expansion pass or will this later be released for free like the Iron banner and Queen's Wrath events?
Bungie, take a look at your fanbase/community, more than half of them are disappointed in the way you're doing business with Destiny.
Edit6:
A reddit post going over everything that changed with Destiny over the last year:

Same post but on Bungie.net:

It goes through everything that was in the game before release but later on got taken out for DLC or removed completely.

It says 6.9 MB on there. Also a very small download. Most likely a "key".
They promise us "New Story and Cooperative Areas to explore" but we all know those areas aren't actually new lol
Plenty of people have already been in them.
Edit9:
Quote from Neogaf worth reading:

I highly doubt the devs just cut complete shit out to sell later.
And that's probably what they want you to think. You'd be surprised what kind of crap they'd spin. Cutting content out of a game and then randomly blasting it into the market in pieces as DLC is profitable, so they'll do it. It's easy for them.
We have no evidence to suggest they aren't doing this. I'm much more inclined to say this is exactly what they're doing based on what we're seeing.
Thank god I didn't buy into this game. Pulled out last year when i realised what they were saying and what they were showing just didn't match. The $500m gave me a good laugh though. What a waste.
But hats down to Activision, it all worked perfectly. Expect other companies to follow this trend. The future is bright!
wazzanut wrote a reply worth reading:
Its like paying to get into Disneyland and then being told you have to pay extra to ride the best rides. People who dont complain about this place less value in money and self respect. I like the idea of releasing content over time to help keep things fresh but theres hardly a main body to this game, it feels like an empty introduction to an empty world. Its like halo leftovers and its starting to smell funny... Repeating missions over and over should be proof enough to the lack of content, its been a while since i felt a little screwed over by a game.
Edit11:
Another area have been found, now by Nowise10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xtf3NlYhB_U
As you can see it is everything is done in this one as well. All Bungie have to do is release the mission files and that's the DLC for ya.
Note that Nowise10 states that this is the 2015 DLC mission.
I mean, a 2015 DLC that already exist in the game. That is pure cheapness.
Edit12:
So, the area Nowise10 found a way into have been in the game for quite some time.
This is a screenshot from a trailer released on E3 this year in June.
http://i.imgur.com/4zFs3HH.png
Would you look at that?
http://youtu.be/hRRKtkuOeig?t=1m32s
So this area have been in there since atleast E3...
Edit13:
Another finished looking DLC area on disc have been found:
http://teambeyond.net/destiny-dlc-area-uncovered-mars/
http://youtu.be/fY_KKYQG22c
Now a strike in the Black Garden area.
As you can see it is a big area where you can't go because of this big energy wall, but with a sparrow you can go through it and enter the DLC area.
Edit14:
Another DLC area found by Corbman.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgoPfuphQvw
This is the Traitor's Ketch mission in the 2015 DLC.
Is you can see, everything is working as it should, it just needs enemies.
Edit15:
Once again, a new DLC area found by Corbman.
http://youtu.be/BtFey3eEzfk
This is the area for the raid on the moon.
Confirming that this also is on disc and only needs enemies to be added.
I know no one cares anymore so I will probably stop updating this now. Since, I don't really care anymore myself.
I've given up on Destiny and will move on to better games.

Edited by florieger: 9/29/2014 2:24:52 PMI can understand that you would like to get the first expansion for free. But besides that, I don't see your point. Bungie offered you a certain content for a certain amount of money. You can accept this offer or not. If they think that can make extra money by moving content to an expansion, it's there right to do so. It's their content. They can do whatever they want. It doesn't matter if that content existed when the game was released or not. The whole "it is already on the disc" thing is stupid. You can download most of the software for free in our days. Even windows, office, photoshop, etc. What you need to legally use it, is a license key, in other words: the right to use it. Bungie can decide if they offer you that right with the initial game or with an additional add-on with an additional price. In the supermarket you don't get all the bananas for the price of one, just because they are already there. Sorry about the long post, but I get upset when people treat other people's Intellectual Property as a common good.

We all installed around 20 GB on content. If you truly feel like what you have is 20 GB of content.... http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/07/21/us-usa-bridges-pennsylvania-idUSKBN0FQ1YR20140721

Edited by JonnyBodyBagz: 9/29/2014 2:46:12 PM"2nd DLC there is less details but I ASSUME 4-5 missions, 2 strikes and 1 raid ". Yea as soon as I saw " Assume" I laughed. Apparently assumptions are now confirmed facts even though they're not confirmed....sigh people will never be fully satisfied no matter what happens
-
OMFG, this is not proof of cut content. Are you really that stupid? These are simply placeholders. Keys are not 6.8 MBs, they are tiny.
-
Proof? The only proof we have, backed up with a youtube video, was that glitch in Open Beta into Kings Watch in Old Russia. And all we saw was just a bunch of Level 20 enemies in the first room behind the doors. We haven't seen the entire Kings Watch area, what it contains and if it's actually ready and bugfree / tested. People seem to be under the impression that Developers start working on a New DLC only after the game has been released. So you really think they can draw, plan, design, create, test, retest New strikes and an entire RAID in just 3-4 months? All we see in this last youtube video, is a glitch of the destination map with some extra icons. Nothing is actual proof that everything is already fully pre-loaded on disc! Now, if he was actually able to go to all those areas in this glitched state, do these missions, enter the Strikes and the RAIDs.... Yeah then I would be right here with you and call it out on Activision and Bungie for purposely locking out fully finished content! We also still don't know what will be unlocked for free in coming months. As they always stated they would release free updates between the DLC's and expansion. Trials of Isiris has been confirmed by the way, as being an exotic weapon Bounty. You have to unlock it. PS. If Activision would be this evil as you claim! Would you really think they going to wait 4 whole months before releasing the first DLC, knowing the short attention span of most gamers? When according to you and all the other haters here, all this content is already finished, tested, bugfree and pre-loaded on disc?? I wish people would use their brain for once, instead of constantly jumping on the blind hate train and rage like chickens without a head!
-
anybody who says ANYTHING like this ''The number of people okay with this is exactly why it's been going on for awhile and just going to continue to grow.'' knows NOTHING about gaming and has been doing it for roughly 2- 3 years .............. do you have any -blam!-ing idea how many times street fighter 2 was released ?
-
In warcraft I glitched into old ironforge. They never used it for anything. A incomplete area means diddly squat. Problem here is the same problem with loot cave farmers. I want it all right now for free. I bought the game I want all complete shit for free. I want I want...want in one hand crap in the other and tell me which one is full first. They are a business..not a charity organization. I'm sorry the world doesn't work the way you want.
-
Not going to voice my opinion on anything specifically related to the DLC, but in edit 5 you said that more than half the community was mad. Really? I don't know the exact number of copies sold so far, but I would bet over 5 million. That means that over 2.5 million people have commented on their distaste on what is being done. Please, I would love to hear when this post gets 2.5 million comments, all agreeing.

Edited by RubberBunny: 9/29/2014 2:42:24 PMThey didn't CUT any content. The code exists, not the rest...Said literally every single game in recent history. Battlefield 3, 4 launched this way. COD launched this way. Dragons Age: Origins launched this way...Skyrim launched this way. Ya'll need to get over yourselves and stop crying about DLC's...It is what it is, move on.

Edited by GreyMouser73: 9/29/2014 3:11:04 PMWHO CARES! You CHOSE to buy the content that is there. You GOT what you paid for. Nobody lied to you. There was no bait and switch. There was no deceptive advertising. So I ask again, WHO CARES?? Seriously, you spend $60 on a game, get your money's worth by any standard, and then are pissed they left hooks in the code for the DLC they are planning to sell you later. If the game wasn't worth it to you, why'd you buy it? If the DLC isn't worth it to you, DON'T buy it. If you buy it and feel that it wasn't worth it, that it was incomplete, well, thats not anybody's fault but YOURS. Giving you something in a locked box, that saves time if you decide to buy the key later, is not some sort of grievous harm to you. You guys in this "gamer community" would cry if somebody gave you a bowl of free ice cream because it wasn't in a waffle cone, because hey, they had waffle cones for sale, why aren't they giving them away too!

Edited by DemonRonin: 9/29/2014 2:41:12 PMBefore anyone cries about destiny lack of content, count your bloody hours. If you have more then 60hrs then you got more then $1hr a hour worth of stuff. Me? Right now I'm working to precure the queens favor. That cloak is mine. I'm on lV 29. And my clan was caught pubstomping on pvp. enjoying every bit of this game.
-
Incomplete areas inside a game world does not mean there was content cut or held back. When I would work on game world I would create the entire map first all of the different areas and locations that would be part of the game. Through development and under strict time frames you may realise that some content might not be complete in time for set release schedule and thus you would block off areas of the game to allow developers to continue developing without worrying about players accessing said areas and discovering broken code and or no content. Its just how game development works. If a game can give a player 80+ hours of entertainment I would consider that fair. If you play it for 100's of hours and complain about lack of content, I think you need to reevaluate life.
-
I don't know man. I prefer to spend my time having fun playing the game as opposed to doing research on how to stir up crap against Bungie. I have over 70 hours of gameplay on it already, and that's far less than the hundreds of thousands of other gamers that are also enjoying the game. They produced a great game that is addicting to play. I pre-bought the season passes so my game cost about $90. Even if they didn't include the season passes, I'm running about $1.29/hr cost of entertainment and it's still going. The content we have for the base $59.99 is plenty. I still have two other classes to play and a ton of grimoire left to collect. My advice is just to be happy with what you have. It's a lot more fun being positive and focusing on what is good.
-
Edited by dante5999: 9/29/2014 3:32:47 PMThis is pointless to get upset about this... The amount of game hours that will come out of these expansions will be worth the 18$ cost of the expansions. Its all just marketing and the way every game is going towards these days. It cost alot of money for Bungie to create this game so you can haz yur cool explosionz. If its such a punch in your wallets balls then buy the expansion pass and get both expansions for a cheaper rate. You all complain about the content in the current release and the content to come...and yet, you all still pick up your sticks, turn on your TV, and start up Destiny. "Edit" And on the topic #5 (Edit5), Bungie is going to continue to release weekly events and content as well, THATS FREE. Suck up your pride and quit being stingy and selfish. And you say Bungie is greedy...
-
Wow where to start.... First off the 9.5 MB key, yeah that idea is used in almost all games with massive dlc and online interactions. You see you need everyone to have the same files if they are playing together. For instance if you don't get the dlc and I do, you need to atleast have the DLC files that my character could equip, otherwise if we are in the same game things break because your game doesnt understand what my game has. So the two common ways to combat this are A) have a compatibility pack separate from the DLC that needs to be downloaded when the DLC is released that has the bare minimum files to prevent things from breaking (Borderlands 2 and i think COD uses this method) or B) you time the DLC release with a patch that is HUGE and has everything, then give a small key to those that download the DLC so they can access the content (Battlefield). Either way there is a large file needed for the DLC. Now if there never is a huge patch then yes the content was already included, but I highly doubt that is the case. And second, you have played for almost 85 hours in 20 days. There are 2 ways to look at that number. 1) you averaged 70 cents per hour of entertainment; good luck finding something else with that value. 2) assuming 40 hours a week at a job or school and 8 hours of sleep a night you have spent 35% of your free time on a "Rip off". Either way it seems like you got your money worth......
-
Edited by Falcon Punch: 9/29/2014 3:53:52 PMI remember classic WOW back in the day, where you could get into Mt. Hyjal (Battle of Mt, Hyjal) which was a planned raid. The environment was there, complete with "under construction" signs. No enemies, scripting, and such but the world itself was fully functional. You were also able to get to the Caverns of Time which was a planned zone with 5 man dungeons and... the Hyjal raid. In both cases we did not get this content until Burning Crusade which was a $40 expansion. My point is this is not the first game to have content that is planned and it is not unheard of to have content in a game that was planned, but for whatever, reason was pushed back or cut. In some cases assets might of been created, such as the game world, but no work has been completed on scripting, AI, enemy placement and patterns, loot rewards, sound design, etc. Warcraft was a much bigger and different game and I am not meaning to draw comparisons between the amount of content in WOW vs Destiny - just want to point out that most, if not all games, have unused assets in their code. Just that in most cases we never find those assets. Now if any publisher would want content cut for profit its Activision but we really don't know that is what is going on. We assume that because Activision has a tarnished reputation.
-
It's not cut its oncoming content!
-
I glitched into kings watch in alpha using a sparrow. not much there level wise. did it again in beta, more was added but looked incomplete. did it again after launch and more was added but STILL looks incomplete. Which means expansion could work as a patch not just a key

The self entitlement of gamers these days is unreal. BUNGIE MADE HALO SO THEY HAVE TO MAKE DESTINY WAY BETTER AND IF NOT IM GOING TO RAGE AND CRY MY HEART OUT BECAUSE A VIDEO GAME DOESNT BRING ME ENDLESS HAPPINESS. Get real. I love games, have for years. Xbox live is how me and my friends connected and became better friends in person. Eventually we evolved from xbox to real life shit and we grew up. But ive had friends and girlfriends with siblings who I see similarly devoting weekend after weekend to gaming. Except, they arent growing up. Its quite disgusting, the time and sheer will of life some people are putting into gaming these days. Ive dedicated a crap ton of time to it so far, and ive loved and hated it. But This new community of gamers is frightening to me. Its a virtual game guys. Sure, it offers social integration to a degree and can help but come on. Its a game guys. Game. Not a job, career, school, or anything relatively important. Enjoy life, dont let a GAME ruin it. Its saddening to me, honestly, that this post exist even. Who cares? If it irks you, trade the game in and accept your mistake of buying a game from this "fraudulent" company without delving into the details more. Coming here and spewing your self entitled bull because you all cant believe you made a mistake in LIFE is crazy. It makes me want to move to a different country, no, planet, in fear of these people one day leading nations and making decisions for me.
-
So, would you rather pay for each patch and hotfix instead? Cause those don't come loaded on the disc like our DLC we are apparently entitled to. Why does the data being on the disc have anything to do with us not getting a full product? Bungie could have easily not put it on disc and made you download it separately and you would have no basis for your argument. (And then I'm sure you would have bitched about the fact that you have long download times for the DLC content.) The point is this: Bungie has the right to release the game however they want and charge what they want. You can choose to buy their product or not, if you so desire. If you aren't satisfied with the product, then stop playing and get something else.
-
You have like almost 100 hours played. Seems to me like you got your money's worth. But hey who am I to say.
-
This complaint is stupid. I don't know if you've been to Disney land but that is exactly how it is. You buy a ticket to Disney land but you can't go to Tomorrow land or California Adventure unless you pay more. Bungie never said you will get everything on the disc if you buy it. The only expectation is/was that you buy the Destiny video game, you get to play the Destiny video game. All additional content is at their discretion and if it requires and additional fee for the expansion pass, then so be it. They fulfilled their part. Every other games requires additional payment for more content. I dont see what your argument is.....

You know that's Activisions part
