So, information about cut content have been leaked and users on Neogaf have posted this.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=903125
Apperently a persons game glitched and allowed him to see all the content as locked, including the content we're not "allowed" to see yet. Like the DLC missions, Strikes and Raids.
I quote:
The first DLC will include 4-5 missions, 2 strikes(one on earth, one on Mars), 1 raid(on Moon) and 3 crucible maps.
Second DLC there is less details but I assume again 4-5 missions, 2 strikes, and 1 raid(which takes place in the reef)
Where all of this is on disc but have to be unlocked by buying the Season Pass/DLC.
So, there you have your proof. Bungie have cut content from the game and locked it for us to make us buy their Season Pass.
In my opinion that is a very cheap move.
Opinions/Further discussions?
Please bump this thread as much as you can to spread the truth.
Edit:
Further proof that most of the DLC is already on Disc. (From Neogaf)

Edit3:
To the people defending this.
How are you okay with this kind of stuff? Content being on the disc that you bought but can't use because they will sell it to you again in the Expansion Pass.
This content should/already is in the game but is locked.
Edit4:
People saying we're jumping to conclusions, that these areas are not even close to being finished and all that.
Thing is.
Since the areas are already there(some with enemies) they could have easily have included them in the game.
These areas were already in as far back as the alpha. Which means they had plenty of time to actually finish it all. (If they aren't already finished and Bungie are just waiting to release the rest of it to the people with the expansion pass)
These missions and areas should/could have been in the final game but were most likely cut to be sold later as DLC.
The areas already in the game proves this by showing us areas that are locked where they probably later only will unlock the missions for those areas. As stated in Edit1 "Expansion II is only 9.5 MB" which most likely is just a "key" to unlock the on disc "DLC".
Looking at the lack of content Destiny have right now it could have used this content on release instead.
Edit5:
Seeing that this thread now have about 380 replies(and still going) where the majority are either upset or angry at Bungie for doing this thing, maybe Bungie should address this in an official blog post and update us on how it actually is.
Is this DLC content on disc which needs a bought "key" aka expansion pass or will this later be released for free like the Iron banner and Queen's Wrath events?
Bungie, take a look at your fanbase/community, more than half of them are disappointed in the way you're doing business with Destiny.
Edit6:
A reddit post going over everything that changed with Destiny over the last year:

Same post but on Bungie.net:

It goes through everything that was in the game before release but later on got taken out for DLC or removed completely.

It says 6.9 MB on there. Also a very small download. Most likely a "key".
They promise us "New Story and Cooperative Areas to explore" but we all know those areas aren't actually new lol
Plenty of people have already been in them.
Edit9:
Quote from Neogaf worth reading:

I highly doubt the devs just cut complete shit out to sell later.
And that's probably what they want you to think. You'd be surprised what kind of crap they'd spin. Cutting content out of a game and then randomly blasting it into the market in pieces as DLC is profitable, so they'll do it. It's easy for them.
We have no evidence to suggest they aren't doing this. I'm much more inclined to say this is exactly what they're doing based on what we're seeing.
Thank god I didn't buy into this game. Pulled out last year when i realised what they were saying and what they were showing just didn't match. The $500m gave me a good laugh though. What a waste.
But hats down to Activision, it all worked perfectly. Expect other companies to follow this trend. The future is bright!
Edit10:
wazzanut wrote a reply worth reading:
Its like paying to get into Disneyland and then being told you have to pay extra to ride the best rides. People who dont complain about this place less value in money and self respect. I like the idea of releasing content over time to help keep things fresh but theres hardly a main body to this game, it feels like an empty introduction to an empty world. Its like halo leftovers and its starting to smell funny... Repeating missions over and over should be proof enough to the lack of content, its been a while since i felt a little screwed over by a game.
Edit11:
Another area have been found, now by Nowise10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xtf3NlYhB_U
As you can see it is everything is done in this one as well. All Bungie have to do is release the mission files and that's the DLC for ya.
Note that Nowise10 states that this is the 2015 DLC mission.
I mean, a 2015 DLC that already exist in the game. That is pure cheapness.
Edit12:
So, the area Nowise10 found a way into have been in the game for quite some time.
This is a screenshot from a trailer released on E3 this year in June.
http://i.imgur.com/4zFs3HH.png
Would you look at that?
http://youtu.be/hRRKtkuOeig?t=1m32s
So this area have been in there since atleast E3...
Edit13:
Another finished looking DLC area on disc have been found:
http://teambeyond.net/destiny-dlc-area-uncovered-mars/
http://youtu.be/fY_KKYQG22c
Now a strike in the Black Garden area.
As you can see it is a big area where you can't go because of this big energy wall, but with a sparrow you can go through it and enter the DLC area.
Edit14:
Another DLC area found by Corbman.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgoPfuphQvw
This is the Traitor's Ketch mission in the 2015 DLC.
Is you can see, everything is working as it should, it just needs enemies.
Edit15:
Once again, a new DLC area found by Corbman.
http://youtu.be/BtFey3eEzfk
This is the area for the raid on the moon.
Confirming that this also is on disc and only needs enemies to be added.
I know no one cares anymore so I will probably stop updating this now. Since, I don't really care anymore myself.
I've given up on Destiny and will move on to better games.

I think this post is proof that you have no life.

Its 100 bucks including 2 dlc's. Quit complaining. You purchased entertainment, are you not entertained? You bought something someone else created, do you have the right to tell them how to sell it? You saw a youtube video showing maps, can you gaurentee me that the content is finished? And back to my first point. Its 100 bucks total. 100 bucks. 100. Split up over 3 months mind you. If thats gonna kill your bank account then please stop playing games and dedicate that lost time to fixing your life. And for those saying its ruining gaming by them releasing dlc.... think of how much it costs to make a game. really think of everything involved in this day and age to create a game. Insert the fact that just like the movie and book industry new and original ideas are hard to come by. Where does that money come from? Investors. What do they want? On something like a game/movie somewhere around 50-100 percent increase on return than they invested. Thats how they make money. How do you presume they could do that with an online game requireing constant updates/patches/monitoring with no monthly fee and a one time box price of 60 bucks? You cant. Add in activision breathing down your neck and you realize youre going to be forced to gut your game and sell it piece by piece. Willing to bet it was not the original plan but more of a panick button smash when the numbers quit adding up right.
-
have you considered that what we can currently see is place holder, and that the downloads are small because the DLC is not actually out yet, and therefore will actually take up virtually no disk space other than that to let the market place know that it has been purchased. i think it is probable that a small amount of content is on the disc already perhaps some items, map elements etc, it is also probable that if this is the case then it will likely change. the map elements being present doesn't mean that the entire -blam!-ing DLC is on the disc, all that means is that there is a working version of it on the disc, this doesn't mean that this version is the final version, merely that they designed part of it before release, and included it in the overall area map, it would be the obvious way of doing it, it can always be modified, later, there is nothing showing that the actual DLC content is on the disc, now stop creating trouble, while i agree this is interesting, you and others are making so many -blam!-ing assumptions and accusations about this with only something that you could actually expect to find in game already. you lack evidence to make your point here, fundamentally we're looking at placeholder content not actual DLC, there is quite a lot on the disc which is not currently available at least 6 ghost shells have been data mined from game content
-
DeeJ just posted:
They have activity names (which may or may not change) and we have a really good idea what they're going to contain. They even have placeholder nodes in the Director, as you've already discovered. But neither of the Expansion Packs we've announced are finished.
I hope all you assholes feel like total shit right now. Quit dismissing something BEFORE YOU'VE EVEN SEEN IT! This is the MOST negative community ever.
-
This is just sad. But don't blame bungie. It is activisions fault. They said "hey we want more money so cut that that and that for dlc" and bungie didn't have a big enough backbone to stand up for the players and say no. But activision is the one who would of suggested it.
-
It would be one thing if you had a credible source from, say, Bungie that can verify that a wealth of content was taken out. However, you're just taking hot posts from within your thread made by no one significant and presenting them as if this proves something. Yes, there is framework in place. There would have to be in order to not buy another disc for the DLC. This does not mean that the areas are finished or that they have been populated with the correct enemies, puzzles, loot, etc. that they need to be for when they come online. If you want to launch some grand investigation into this, do so. By all means. But don't go accusing people of things when you don't actually have enough information from which to draw an adequate conclusion.
-
I did not expect this from Bungie but i for one can tell that we've been screwed royally and the only thing that will have any kind of lasting effect is a class action lawsuit.
-
Edited by Gnoizic: 9/29/2014 10:04:29 PMScrew it. I'll stand up and defend it. Believe me or not, I've actually seen things. There were parts of this game that were in wireframes when the game launched. While placeholder parts of this game may have been already included, there were things that were not ready at launch.
-
Stop acting like this is important. Video games are entertainment and you guys act like someone came into your house and kicked your dog in the face. Don't buy the DLC and return the game. If you can't return it then suck it up and learn your lesson. This is how games are nowadays and you're gonna have to learn to adjust or get used to being disappointed. Time is the most important commodity we have and you're the one who's ultimately in control of that. Now you've just wasted what I consider to be a metric shit ton of it trying to convince people that they should be upset too. It's all subjective and it's just a silly -blam!-ing video game. There will be more, even better ones, I promise you.
-
I do this when I design websites. I mock up frameworks, stock photos, and plan for future content. What I come up with doesn’t always represent the final content. What I am getting at is just because that area is in the game, it could still be waiting for game designers, writers, and a cinematic. Also, with the ability to update by downloads, what you see now may not fully represent what they unlock when you download that expansion. Think about attention to detail as well. When your designing something your not going to build half now and half later. Let us use an office building for example. You wouldn’t build half an office building then half later when you need it. You would want to let people start coming in to open offices and slowly fill them up. There would be no unity or flow…and people pick up on things like that. When two things don’t match you will notice. So it is better to have that there now and fill it later than try and puzzle it together later with bonding glue and duct tape.

Edited by ridiculous99: 9/29/2014 1:55:33 PMI've played about 70 hours and haven't even done the raid yet. I just tried Crucible for the first time yesterday and it's fun as hell (needs a little work on balancing *cough* OP hunters :P *cough*). I'm not bored of the game yet. I have no gripes about the amount of content we received, I basically paid $1/hour so far and that is completely reasonable to me (and will even get more reasonable as I log more hours, which I will be). The DLC will be awesome and I'm glad it's already on the disc so I don't have to come home from work and wait 3 hours for it to download - instead I can jump right into the game and play. SOUNDS GOOD TO ME! Also, to those who have issues with the DLC price...it's $35 for two DLC packs with a ton of content in each. How is that expensive? That sounds reasonable as hell to me. Some of you need to quit your bitching lol. Don't get me wrong I still have my issues with game, but it's new and that is expected. At least the dev team is listening to our feed back. At the beginning of my post I mentioned I hadn't done the raid yet - this is mostly due to there being no match making system. I have a group for 4 friends (including myself) so we just don't quite have the right amount for the raid. A bit frustrating. Matchmaking for the dailies, weeklies and nightfall strikes (and timed events like queen's) would make a world of difference. I laugh at all the people who say there isn't enough content and that they're bored. You will be the people playing wow, farming the same heroics over and over, playing the same BGs that have been around for 10 years and capped in points in PvP and PvE on the Thursday after reset, standing in Orgrimmar dancing, but you won't be complaining then. This is how these games work. Be happy Bungie is bringing out new content so soon. PS. Bungie isn't making people pay monthly like Wow. Since they're not charging us monthly it makes sense they need to make some cash off DLC, how else would they be able to pay their employees to keep adding content for us... This game rocks. Thanks Bungie.

You got what you paid for, now stop crying like an entitled child.

I'm sure many people have seen the video that shows the bugged map after some down time where it has a bunch of missions, raids, and different pvp modes on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-osssAKgEc How much do you want to bet it was an intentional leak? An employee at bungie probably got tired of hearing how empty the game feels and was like, "I'm going to show everyone what destiny will be in a few months time!" It seems plausible to me. If the game was so much more than what got released and the stuff got locked behind dlc, I'm sure you have a few disgruntled employees here and there especially when you look at how long they've been working on the game for.
-
Ever hear of a placeholder? I use placeholders in my work all the time, which are hidden or grayed out until I finish the rest of the work and connect it to the placeholder. Same with the store link, doesn't mean anything. It's 9.5MB now, because something has to be there so that people can pre-purchase it. This could very well be changed before it goes live. We really won't know until the expansions are released. You can't possibly be raging about this before then. What a ridiculous witch hunt based purely on speculation.
-
DLC is a fact of life in pretty much all games now. (thanks, CoD) I don't think it is great but I accept that it is part of life. If you think the game is too shallow in content as it is, have you beat all of the missions on all levels? Done the raid? Crucible has been 'beaten' somehow by you? I dunno. I'm not saying it is perfect but it isn't any worse than most MMO style games that don't go full MMO. The alternative is to pay $120 up front with all games if paying for DLC is your issue. Wazznut's reply misses the point as well. His analogy would be more accurate if he said: it is like going to Disney land and finding out that I have to pay for shirts, drinks, food separate from my ticket which...guess what? Ya do. Before the game every came out, you knew DLC would be a part of the equation. Don't cry foul now that they are doing exactly what they said they'd do.
-
Edited by Sinistradian: 9/29/2014 7:57:46 PMAnd? Even IF these things were on the disc (this is not proof of that) so what? The $60 you paid for is exactly what you agreed to pay for the license of the game as it currently was on the day you purchased it. Why do you feel owed? What makes you think that you got cheated? Your post is very long and detailed but what is your point sir?
-
Edited by Malovi: 9/29/2014 4:32:52 PMI don't get all the whining. There was no contractual obligation made (or even promises) that the disc you bought and all its contents would be immediately available to you. Reality: long done are the epic narritives that you can pay for once and play through completely without at least given the option to pay for additional content. Piracy + DLC being a profitable business model for software are the reasons for that. Let's all be honest for 5 seconds and agree that if the 'DLC' content areas were not on the disc there would be none of these entitlement rants, right? Problem with that is it would involve massive PSN/XBox Network clogs to download massive chunks of the game for millions of players each time an expansion came out giving you all a different reason to cry and complain. So shame on Bungie for front loading the content in a form that minimizes the time it takes to download and begin playing the expansions if you choose to buy them and shame on Activision for not being a charity or not-for-profit.
-
Of course they cut content we all knew this from the start
-
Edited by consago: 9/29/2014 9:36:10 PMThey definitely did cut content. This is a good read
-
Edited by Mckaos: 9/29/2014 5:10:05 PMBungie hasnt "Cut" anything. All this is DLC, planned for future release. Re-title this to "leaked dlc footage" or something. Cutting it would be completely gone and never to return ever. Also the dumbass with the Neogaf post "thank god i didnt buy into this game" Oh no a measly $60. Please. Grow a pair.
-
Ok the hole thing about paid dlc content being on disk is purely speculation. All I see proof of is place markers. They gave us access to the vog for free, their are at least two more free strikes coming and what looks like 3-5 new story missions that may or may not be free... I also see 1 raid and 1 strike for wolves; 1 raid and 2 strikes for dark below... 9.5 mb looks like a preorder voucher in digital form... something to hold license and other purchase information. Plus seeing as this person cannot go into anything in game bc it auto defaulted and locked all content for him, there is no substantial proof that the paid dlc content is on disk. The areas that players have had access to seem to be places that we will be getting later for free anyway... not to mention that if they do add more planets and the such they wouldn't be on this video as they are not likely on disk...
-
bungie screwed us blah blah blah... this is activisions fault blah blah blah, we want more blah blah blah... so tired of hearing this - fact is: i play this game everyday and enjoy it immensely, and will buy the dlc and most likely enjoy that too. whats the old saying? opinions are like a-holes?
-
OR maybe they put all the content they have finished up to making the disc but it was not 100% complete. When the DLC comes out they will patch the missing pieces. So there is extra locked content on this disc but it has not been fully completed. Leaving it on the disc will make a much smaller patch size later on when DLC is released. It is not like when the game was sold they had no clue what DLC they would like to introduce. I am sure someone has been working on it for moths. So why not include what they had started on the disc?
-
Just because it is on the disc doesn't mean it is ready. The things on the disc are placeholders for content. You can tell that it isn't even complete yet because some things are even missing
