Anyone who hasn't seen this really should check it out, its a very well made video citing 7 things that would be amazing and well needed additions to Destiny.
If you guys have anything you would like to see in future updates feel free to add below.
Thanks to everyone at OutsideXbox for the video
My top 4 would be:
Better loot System
More Explore-able areas
More Guns (elements that have effects)
More varied events in story/explore

The game needs the following: 1) In-game access to the Grimoire. You shouldn't have to leave the game in order to understand the game. 2) The ability to save different armor styles. With the light level system the idea that you can make your character your own is a lie. The light level on your armor is what decides what your character looks like, not the armor and perks. You should be able to save different armor styles and apply them to different armor types. 3) An increase in customization overall. If I want to change the color of my armor I shouldn't have to wait until I'm practically done with the game in order to do so. Same with guns. There should be the ability to change the color palette, patterns, etc. of your armor. For weapons you should be able to change their color, camo, sights, reticule, reticule color, attachments, etc. to fit your play style and armor color/style. Also, character customization at the start of the game is very limited, with no facial hair being one of the most obvious problems. 4) Better level and boss design. Every single story mission and strike in Destiny is boring and repetitive. Go here, kill enemies, scan, defend Ghost, kill enemies, rinse and repeat. And since the raid is essentially locked out to a good portion of the community, strikes will be one of the hardest things to do in Destiny, Nightfall strikes included. Add different bosses instead of recoloring and re-sizing the same generic enemies. Add different ways to beat the boss and different stages, like in the Vault of Glass, minus the incredible difficulty and emphasis on perfect team coordination. 5) More exploration. When you're in the patrol mode of Destiny, you can see all of these different areas with large vistas or sand dunes that should be explorable. You could hide a Cabal bunker under the dunes of Mars, one that you could accidentally stumble upon and find an exotic or legendary item. Or you could find a Vex structure on Venus while you were riding your Sparrow over the planet's vast oceans which could lead you to a shiny new Hand Cannon. Don't restrict us to a small portion of a larger world, Bungie. Let your game flex it's muscles. I could go on and on, but you get the gist of it.
