I think the reason why people are upset is due to the fact that people feel ripped off. When you spend 60-90$ for a game then you have little game to show for it people will feel ripped off and cheated.
From a business model it's brilliant. It's a fountain of $$$. Lock things for dlc. Alot of companies already do that. Businesses want a renewable cash source. Music is a good example. Just look at iTunes you weren't buying music Just a license to play it. Vudu same thing with movies. Adobe Photoshop is subscription based.
Figure one person spends $60 for the base game then over the life of the game they spend +-240 on dlc, emotive gear,w/e,that's $300. Multiply that by 1-2million customers that $300-600 million.dollars. I'm being conservative.
I understand both sides. What can you do though....
