This is how these games work...again...see WoW. Not only do you pay for expansions, you pay a monthly fee so that they can afford to keep development on-going between releases of content. Hopefully you're going to school for software development so you can work for Bungie for free so that no one will have to pay a whopping $35 for 2 DLCs *eye roll*.
WoW is a dying system. They lost subscriptions every month. Games like Guild Wars 2 show that you can have a financial strong game and don't need any monthly fees. They even release new content (Story and Gamefeatures) every 14 days. Thats really huge. Especially if you think about that this missions has boss encounters and Cutscenes. To point 2, you cannot know about this, i posted it in another thread. I will give these 2 expansions a chance (I have to, bought the limited and redeemed all codes) But as the Threadstarter already wrote, the size is just a couple of MB. This tracks hardly into the "Unlock key download" direction. To the PVP Statement: I played alot of different titles. Some were balanced, some not. In some i was good in others bad. But most of them don't let me rage like Destiny. There are so many aspects of things that are unsatisfying. Just to name a few: -No options to customize and create private game lobbies -No option to customize the matchmaking itself (a standart since Halo 2 or 3) -Matchmaking itself (If I play alone I just get stomped from 3 guy parties on Skirmish and Salavage. Often i just play 2v3 because one leaves after 5 deaths in a row) -Forced upgrades on Weapons (Sometimes Upgrades give 3 positives and 1 negative but this negative weights higher) -Bad netcode (Sometimes Player kill me around a corner or we both die but he dies 3 seconds later cause of delay) I hope I could clearify my point of view sincerly ScaleoJ

People cancel their subs when they get bored of content and then they comeback when an expac is released. 95% of people buy the expacs and come back for at least a little while (I'm in this category). More people play WoW than Guild Wars 2 so I'm not sure how much merit this point has.
To point 2, you cannot know about this, i posted it in another thread. They could have SOME file there now as a placeholder, but who says that is the entire DLC. To claim to know that is pretty ridiculous.
To the PVP Statement: I played alot of different titles. But honestly, any multiplayer game is going to have negatives. Us paying for DLC allows the devs to not only listen to our concerns, but address them. If the devs arent getting paid, changes arent being made. If Bungie doesn't have some way of generating income after the initial game sales, they cant pay their devs. Because of this i will gladly pay for DLC. As long as Bungie listens to our complaints and addresses them Im a happy gamer. If some DLCs or patches come abd there still isnt match making for PvE and PvP, or still isn't some other needed changes that people talk about constantly then get mad, but until then enjoy what we have and look forward to improvements and the evolution of the game.

Servers getting closed and reorganised so you have some full worlds WoW is hardly the last "succesful" game with this system of payment. Gw2 has ~7 million active Accounts. WoW had in Q2 2014 nearly the same. WoW had in his best times 14 millions if i can remember this right (was showed at some Trailers with Chuck Norris and Mr. T) This is an loss of almost 50%! So I think we can compare both games in terms of playernumbers. What makes GW2 so outstanding is, that you buy the game for around 50 bucks and then you haven't to pay anything. You have an Ingameshop which requires a currency, which is easily achieved by Ingame Gold. All things you can buy there are different from the Stuff you can get ingame, so everyone sees, you bought it (so it is no offense against guys, who grinded there gear hardly) and this things give no gamebreaking advantages. The only things are XP Booster and endless ressourcetools like pickaxes. Why bungie did not go for this train? You, as a customer, can actually control your costs easily. As a developer, it isn't hard to create content. Gw2 showes, that this model has a future. In terms of balancing. I think it is absurd to say, you have to pay DLC so they can make the Matchmaking, or better the whole PVP enjoyable. Every other Game has updates in Balance too and they didn't needed money for DLC. There are enough fair and square models for funding big team. Every single one of us pay not just the game and its DLC. You need an XBOX Live Gold or PS Plus membership. If you want so, you pay monthly to use certain features. Ok this fees don't go to Bungie, but this is one of the reasons, it would be outrageous if they want a monthly fee. But to come back to the begin. This complete discussion goes with the claim, this content is already on the disk. If it isn't I'am totaly fine with it. If it is, much more folks will be really pissed. And thats the last thing you want as a developer. have a pissed community. These guys, don't buy anything you give them. Thats the thing I do not understand why Bungie isn't talking in some way's with us. Why there is no official statement? Why they give the press her copies so late? They feared the response. They know they did bullshit at some certain points and don't want to lost there Pre-Order numbers. They fear the contact with us players and thats never a good sign And in terms of storytelling. GW2 had an completed Story with choices, emotional moments and an dramaturgic approach with an start, and middle part and an big final. Destiny has just a start and then it ends. For the DLC size argument. I never saw a change at an downloadcontent in terms of his size. It is very likely that this is the real size for the download But as you said, no proof just speculation. sincerly ScaleoJ
