It's like they had Peter record all of his lines in one day over a phone call. No depth, no enthusiasm, just plain boring voice "acting".
-
I feel like it sounds very dull during all of his exposition and during gameplay, but it much more passable in the cutscenes (which there aren't many of). I thought his execution was pretty good during the scenes when you meet the Stranger and on the first trip to the Reef. Maybe it has do to with having actual dialogue to react to and bounce off of, instead of some nonsense technobabble or pure narration about some Sword of Crota or Rasputin sci-fi stuff.

There were a lot of factors that could've contributed. I just don't think the Ghost had that clear of a vision behind its personality. We've seen humorous AI like Wheatley work great, and monotonous AI like Hal 9000 or Kevin Spacey's AI from the highly under/appreciated Moon also turned out well. The Ghost, however comes across with some monotone but just enough occasional sarcasm to be confusing. Not sure if it was the script, Dinklage, or the director, but the Ghost didn't fulfill its potential. I wouldn't say it ruins the game, but it could've been a lot more.

I like it but I wish they would bring back the best line ie "that wizard came from the moon"
-
My favorite thrilling line. "Fallen, this close to the surface.Move."
-
It really IS horrible.
-
He's voicing a robot if you want all that out of him watch GoT.
-
Could just be the guys directing him in the studio told him to speak his lines in that way too guys. Might not be that he is bad, just they had him do his lines in that tone of voice. if they were not what they wanted then they would have re-recorded until they got it the way they wanted it. That's why I think they told him to speak that way.
-
It's a subtle performance. I like it.
-
Tara Strong should have voiced the ghost.
-
Wheatley from portal 2 would make destiny 2 an instant purchase
-
Well, you know, the ghost is sort of a robot...
-
I hope Jennifer Hale does Destiny 2. Now that girl does some freaking amazing voice acting. Dinklage is cool, and he's a great actor, but I think voice acting is probably its own specialty.
-
Dinkle-bot is horrendous. I do wonder though, just how much of his delivery & presentation of lines was jeopardized by the gutting of the story that we've heard about the past 48 hours. One thing that many of his lines lack, is context and emotion - if the story was fluffled out a bit more and had more about it, I wonder whether it would have made more sense to have him present his lines the way that he did. BUt yeah fully agree - on the surface, he's terrible, and it hurts to listen to him.
-
Arnie would have nailed it, but might have cost a lot :) Dinky is terrible :(
-
I'd rather have William Daniels the original voice of Kitt from Knight Rider.
-
I like how a load of people here are like, "BUT HES A ROBAT!" That doesn't excuse the fact Cortana, Wheatly, and GLADoS all have better voice acting.
-
Bungie should have hired the lady from portal 2 glados
-
Actualy if you take it in a Marvin sort of way from hitchhikers guide, it makes sense
-
He's a -blam!-ing AI in a robot. I don't exactly expect him to have human like emotion. You people will find anything to complain about
-
I didn't even know who this person is/was until someone told me he's the dwarf that's a actor on game of thrones. (I don't care about that show or anything similar like it.)
-
Well ghost pretty much is a biological robot
-
Edited by Vandal Savage: 10/1/2014 8:04:48 PMI don`t think so mate...don`t think so, i think what happened here was bungie sneak in to his hotel, taped him while he was sleeping. Same way they made the Destiny unstory,
-
I'm positive 343 Guilty Spark has more emotion as a character than Ghost will ever be.
-
Well the problem is that Dinklage is primarily an actor. Usually he's on a set with other actors for a scene, and there is context for him to work with. With voice acting, you're just in a booth talking into a mic. He doesn't know that "just so you know, there are more headed your way" is supposed to be in a moment where bullets are whizzing past your head. Tl;Dr: hire people talented in voice acting, Bonji.
-
We don't know how he was directed. This may have been exactly what they wanted.
-
It definitely made me think he's not that great of an actor...but, poor guy. It's still fun. He tried, gotta give him major props for that. He's got nerd cred.
