The Hand cannons in Destiny are the best use of pistols I've ever seen in any video game. Although, I wish they had 1911 style frames.

Hand cannon is my primary in pve. Tried the Suros and many other weapons but nothing compares, for me, in pve. PVp is another story. Not so good with the hand cannon in PVp.
