Free DLC/patch to fix story petition
Sorry but I can see this as the only way for Bungie to save this game. We have all paid for what most have come to think of as a Beta of what we thought and were promised. We are then meant to sit around and wait for a Dlc which cost about he same as the game itself. That's meant to make people happy? Now I don't care if you are a Ps fan boy or and Xbox gamer (joke), none of us deserve to have to fork out more money for a full game. So due to this I think we should get a free DLC from Bungie with an apology for selling us a Beta not the full game. This free DLC/patch should redo the story, making it worthy of the people that brought us Halo. Proper cut scenes that tell a true story, maybe even a twist in there. The Awoken queen recognising your race and responding to you appropriately, not just calling you "it". None of that "I'll explain later" rubbish, a real story that gets to your soul. Bungie owe it to themselves to grip us with a real first episode, to a game that is meant to be around for 10 years.
If you agree please comment so Bungie/Activison [u]might[/u] take notice.
[b]Just to make this clear, I am asking for the story to be fixed. Not multi player maps, guns or anything that shouldn't be in the game we all bought. The story that was cut and we all saw was in the game before the cuts. That can only come as a free DLC or patch, if that's a better word for people. However it has to fix the nonsensical story, that is not what is advertised on the back of the case. Please read the case, "[u]rich cinematic story telling[/u]". That is what we thought we had bought, that is what we should have. Hope that makes things clear for some that think anyone that agrees wants some kind of hand out. As we don't, we just want what we paid for. A story driven game, not a watered down version of what was touted.[/b]
I do have theory why the story is so bad and nondescript. My theory is that it was written by deej. You know the guy that gives nondescript answers to every question? That's all I can think of as to why the story is so bad, it's deej's fault. As it can't be Bungie can it? They brought us the original Halo and the emotional Halo Reach, remember the end of that? Truly an amazing ending, Bungie did that. They couldn't of written this Destiny tripe. Seriously watch this....

I know A LOT of people on here are giving you greif on here and are saying they're happy to spend the $40/£30 on EVERY SINGLE DLC that Bungie puts out and you shouldn't expect to get anything for free. I understand that the developers of the game need to get paid for the work that they've done, but the cost to make this game is completely disproportionate to the game that we all received. If I use Batman Arkham Asylum/Batman Arkham City as an example: the cost to make the game was a fraction of what Destiny cost and the story was wonderfully compelling. I could play that game over and over and not get bored. Destiny follows a very repetitive formula: mission start - travel to first conflict - fight simple enemies - travel to next conflict - fight tougher enemies with respawn restricrions - travel to final conflict - fight endless waves of enemies whilst chipping away at the health of a strike target/boss. Repeating the same thing OVER AND OVER isn't compelling and I PERSONALLY (meaning my PERSONAL opinion) don't give a hoot about levelling up my armor as I finished what little they offered of a story in a few hours and didn't feel compelled to do any more. I feel cheated out of the good game that Bungie promised and think they'll have to do something pretty miraculous to get ten months out of this games longevity - never mind their predicted ten years.. I realise that this comment will probably receive negative responses from the Destiny community and rest assured I am completely disinterested if you disagree with me. What I have written is MY OPINION of the game and whether you disagree with me or not is irrelevant.

DLC is additional incoming profit for the company, and ensures that there will be long-term players to keep the profits coming. The DLC sales that launched on release day is also a known profit-gimmick, and usually accounts to about half of all DLC purchases. 2) Due to laws associated with video games, it is really, REALLY hard to refund consumers for digital data. There are so many laws in place to even be able to trade in physical copies of games to prevent fraud and copyright issues. Without physical content, it's near-impossible to be able to return DLC. 3) The money you gave for the full game helped pay for all the people who worked on it. Granted, the ratio between the quality of the game versus what we paid for is /horribly/ skewed, it all comes down to the fact that there were people behind the game that did come out, and they ought to be compensated for their time. So if you're really not satisfied with the game, then I highly recommend trading it in so you don't have as much loss on it as you will in another month or two. Free DLC will just never happen. Now what /can/ be done is either consistent tweaks of maps through updates, or just bigger DLC that will fill in all the little gaps we need. For instance, in order to minimize putting players through non-stop runs of the same maps, the folks of Diablo III added different textures/weather mapping to the current maps to provide different experiences. This is easily something Bungie can do to cut down the feeling of repetitiveness at least a tiny bit more.

1 ReplyI'm sure there will be free dlc. The only reason we have not heard about it is because it costs money to publicize upcoming content. Better to invest in announcing paid dlc, right? Most of the free dlc I've seen was announced in a last-minute low-budget fashion.

3 RepliesWhat I think you are not seeing is that Bungie built this game as a DLC delivery system. They pretty much use the mobile game formula of shallow but addicting play. Don't really see them changing that now.

#signed. Although I will say free Dlc could backfire and hurt Destiny in the long run. Tho I do feel incredibly let down with the story. Bungie, this is your 1 freebie. I love the game but don't -blam!- me on the next Destiny game.

8 RepliesThis is just dumb. If Bungie were to give out their DLC for free how muck work do you think they will put into any further content? Bungie may have bitten off more than they could chew, and in my opinion should have delayed release, but they have years worth of content, story, events, etc already in the works. If you did a little research before buying this game you would know it's meant to play like an MMO, which have loose story lines so the player can make it their own based on the storyline, factions and missions they choose to follow. Bitching and moaning about lack of content from power leveling your way through to level 20 and ignoring the fact that you already got two significantly big events post game release for free. How many other games give you that within the first few weeks of game play. I challenge you to find an FPS with this much variety of game play and wasn't a cookie cutter story and slight tweets to game play that held interest for about 10 hrs then just repetitive multiplayer. Grow up and enjoy the game for what it is and what it will become or stop playing and wasting everyone's time with this nonsense

I'll sign it. it was wrong to give us a game this unfinished. I understand that they were struggling to meet the deadline, and a lot of things happened this year, both good and bad. but that doesn't change the fact that this game is a ghost of what it was, and a ghost of what it could be. people that don't know bungie assume it's laziness that created this game. but the rest of us think that bungie's changed and corporate policy is to blame. but I honestly think that either way, it's a fair thing to say that this game isn't what we were promised. what we were promised is already in the DLC, on our disks, waiting to be unlocked. I have reason to believe that was all part of the original game. I'm not shelling out a hundred bucks for a sixty dollar game.

This game certainly needs more free content if it wants to keep people interested. Its awesome that they are actively tweaking the game to imrove features, but if you want to tell us we have to pay more for another raid or more missions then you have got to be joking. All you have given us is a 6 hour campaign and 1 raid. That is like an mmo with 1 dungeon and a handful of quests; very disappointing.

Yes! Agreed! I'm not gonna pay another 35 bucks to wait on dlc when I should be playing more content now. This game feels like it's already dying because of a lack of content aside from pvp, and I don't think it will make it past December if they don't add more content before the expansion for free
