Or why you should support local family owned farms. Not only do you take a stand on animal cruelty but you also help support your local economy and create more jobs for your peers. Imo being vegan is a dumbass thing to do if you're doing it for those poor animals because we will never stop devouring them. If you want humane like conditions for animals, see the first two sentences.

 • Local farms are still bad for the environment and still cruel for the animals, they're just smaller. Why would we keep on using animals? Maybe it will end?

 • The issue here is that for local farms to exist, factory farms also need to exist. If you removed every factory farm, there would suddenly be a massive shortage of supply to meet the demand, and we would need to replace these industrial gaps with more local farms -- effectively ceasing them to be local farms. So, the same amount of greenhouse gas emissions -- or at least in the same vicinity, since the largest contributors are the land usage, enteric fermentation and manure, and fossil fuels.

It will never end because of our hunter and gather genetic disposition dating back to the stone ages.

 • So, you say the only reason local farms are better, is that they let their animals roam free? This means all the other cruelty described in the OP (and not described in the OP) is still happening!!! + when everyone would let cattle roam free, there wouldn't be enough space, so it would be impossible!

And no that's not the only reason. See first post. I will post links and articles when I get home of how there is just a huge leap in living conditions when you compare local farms to industry farms. Now are you going to explain how local farms are bad for the environment, or are you going to keep dodging my question?
brb cattles are taking over my land. Brb quit being a farmer cause I don't have enough land.
Why they are bad for the environment? Well, when you use 100 animals a year and every animal has eaten a big amount of food during his whole lifetime, imagine what a waste of food it is compared to vegans who eat their food directly! And calves are still taken away from their mum, make chickens thrown in the grinder (it's useless to raise them, because they're useless for the farmer). There's also alot of methane coming from livestock and don't say "little farms are small, so there isn't alot of methane coming from them" because you still use the same amount of meat, it would just require more, small farms to replace one big farm.

 • Or maybe people will one day realize that as a species we need meat to live and that's how it's been forever.
