Who does the strikes for the random drops? way more efficient ways to grind drops then in a strike.

It's not for grinding but more a case of making the most of every situation. They're random so you never know what you could get, when. The only other option is blast to the end objective of everything and end up in with the ones moaning that the game is boring. To each they're own but I like to explore while leaving a trail of death.

I prefer to make the most of my time. If I'm doing a strike its for a purpose (bounty, weekly for coins, ect.) Maybe I miss some drop or maybe because I ran through the strike I had time to go do patrols and that's when I get it. I don't care because I'll never know anyway. As you said the loot drops are random, so why sweat it? By all means you do you, but to call people douches or toolbags as you and the OP have because we choose to skip by parts that seem to us a waste of time is pretty ignorant.

I only say that because in something that's meant to be team based I don't expect the team to all of a sudden be gone without a word. Calling them douches might be judgemental maybe, but not ignorant. Although the irony of being called ignorant by someone who doesn't know what it means has made me smile so thanks for that

Well the lack of communication is more bungie's fault than the player's. If we had a convenient chat function I would no doubt say "yo man, skipping this shit", but alas we don't.
I'm well aware of the meaning of the words I choose to use.
