Welcome to the Campaign Speed Run.
During Halo Reach you would have on average 201 players playing Campaign Matchmaking.
The object was to basically keep ahead of everyone else while killing everything so they can't. You reap the cR XP grind while they wasted their time.
Bungie for some dumb reason based Destiny's Strikes entirely on Speed Run Mentality instead of Firefight, which on average had about 7,000 players whoring it up with fusion cannons.
Or Limited FireFight that always had about 1300 players who wanted a challenge of any sort as a team based PVE experience.
The only thing going in your favor is the final boss can't be head shotted by the first guy who gets there.
So enjoy the douchbaggery it's not going anywhere and it will only get worse.
